I first met Rima in 2009, during a very different chapter of my life, when I was working as the Executive Chef and F&B Manager of a hotel in Sydney. I hired Rima as a Breakfast Supervisor, and immediately I knew there was something special about her. A different type of individual.
Neither of us could have known then that, more than 17 years later, we would still be working side by side.
Rima joined DAYTODAY in 2019, when I asked her if she could help me with some admin work behind the scenes. Since then, as the years have gone by, Rima has proven herself again and again. She took on more and more responsibility, improved systems, pretty much worked her butt off, and eventually became our Office Manager.
But for me, this one is more personal than a job title.
Through different jobs, different chapters, and eventually the journey of building DAYTODAY, Rima has been there.
There is something pretty special about building a business alongside people who have been part of your journey long before the business even existed.
Today, more than 17 years after we sat in that hotel bar during a job interview, I can still see that same woman in front of me. Ambitious, motivated, thorough, energetic, loyal, dedicated and hardworking.
A core made of steel.
