I’m not coming down on the young guys who buy a pressure washer to earn some extra money.

Honestly, I encourage it.

I’d tell my own sons to do it.

In fact, I gave them a pressure washer and basically told them to go nuts.

There’s nothing wrong with hustle.

But as a homeowner, you should understand what you’re getting, and what you’re not getting.

The guy with a wand gets excited about PSI.

This wasn’t “worn out.”
This was rotting apart.

Stringers splitting.
Supports failing.
Moisture sitting and eating the structure from the inside out.

These stairs were on their way to becoming a safety issue.

So we didn’t patch it. We rebuilt it properly:

✔️ Removed all rotten and compromised wood
✔️ Installed new structural stringers
✔️ Reinforced connections with proper hardware
✔️ Restored solid load support from the ground up

Now the stairs are tight, stable, and safe.

This is the difference between covering up rot…
and actually fixing what caused it.
