A great day visiting the Melbourne Flower Show!

It’s always fun hanging out in gardens with loads of plants, flowers, fellow designers and garden lovers.

Today is day one of the show which is set within the beautiful environment of Carlton Gardens.

While the large show gardens always impress, it was many of the smaller spaces that really stood out—
thoughtful layouts, restrained material palettes, and planting that was beautiful.

Sustainability is a strong theme throughout, with lots of soft, silvery-grey hues coming through in the planting. Corten steel has been used a lot as a hard landscape material.

It’s great to see trends in planting choices and materials.

Transforming outdoor spaces for learning and play 🌿 🛝

We’re proud to share our latest work with Elmwood Normal School, a project that reflects our commitment to creating safe, functional, and enduring outdoor spaces for education.

This upgrade brought together soft-fall surfacing, shade structures, a custom sandpit, and refreshed garden beds to create a space that supports everyday school life. The design balances durability with usability, offering a safe and engaging environment that encourages outdoor learning, active play, and connection with nature throughout the school day.

It’s always a privilege to contribute to environments where learning and play go hand-in-hand.

We’ve loved our continued work alongside the Elmwood Normal School community to create new spaces that inspire learning and play — this next stage includes an outdoor classroom, a multi-sport artificial turf court, upgraded sports fields, and an adventure space. These projects are a special tribute to the much-loved teacher, Isaac Levings. We look forward to supporting the next stages of development in the months ahead.
