The AES system is a passive, on-site secondary treatment system developed and used in the USA for over 25 years with over 250,000 installations. The effluent is treated using natural bacterial process within specially designed passively aerated pipes installed in a sand bed after a standard septic tank. In its simplest form the treated effluent is dispersed passively into the soil beneath the bed,

however the treated effluent can be collected and used for irrigation if preferred. Industry Update: Punakaiki Beach Camp
One of the South Island’s largest AES installations is keeping Punakaiki Beach Camp running smoothly through peak summer — supporting up to 400 campers in a tight coastal footprint right beside pristine West Coast waterways and beaches.
Despite the challenging site, the project came in more than $200K under budget, thanks to the design & installation team and the AES product.
