Being sick has reminded me exactly why I started Blow Tissues in the first place.

We have upgraded basically every everyday product around us.

Skincare. Towels. Hand soap. Toilet paper. Cleaning products. The little tray on your bathroom counter that makes you feel like you have your life together.

But tissues somehow got a pass.

We are still supposed to accept thin tissues that tear after one use, leave your nose red and raw, come in boxes you want to hide, and barely tell you anything about what you’re pressing against your face all day.

No.

If you’re sick, crying, dealing with allergies, wiping your kid’s nose, or blowing your nose for the hundredth time, the tissue should not make the situation worse.

That’s why I made Blow Tissues.

Stitching this because I still stand by it.

Cube tissue boxes are one of those things that look cute until you realize what is happening.

A lot of the time, you are getting fewer tissues, folded differently, shoved into a smaller box, and then somehow they still fall down halfway through.

So you end up paying the same or more for less tissue and a worse user experience.

Respectfully, that is not innovation.

We are working on something for the future, but the goal is very clear: solve the size problem without making you pay the same amount for fewer tissues.

Because yes, I understand why people want a smaller tissue box. The standard rectangle is bulky. The cube is cute but chaotic. And the Blow Kit is already a lower-profile box than a regular rectangular tissue box, while still being refillable and designed to stay out.

The point was never just “make it prettier.”

The point was to make the tissue system better.

Before I started Blow Tissues, I had never really researched tissues.

And honestly, that was the point.

Most of us don’t.

We check ingredients in skincare. We care about what touches our face. We upgrade towels, soap, makeup, SPF, and half the bathroom.

Then we grab whatever tissue box we grew up with and press it against our face over and over without thinking twice.

I do not think people are using bad tissues because they love bad tissues.

I think most people were never given a better choice.

Pretty is nice.

But it’s never been the most interesting thing about anyone.

I was raised around people who worked hard, built things, showed up, figured it out, and kept going. Farm family, small business owners, strong women, the best dogs, a husband who has carried more boxes than he probably ever agreed to, and in-laws who believed in this very specific tissue idea from the beginning.

That is the stuff that built me.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I built Blow Tissues from an idea into a real product in about six months.

Packing refill orders while sick feels a little full circle.

The whole reason I started thinking about Blow Tissues was because my husband, who is a teacher, brought home a cold and I was using whatever scratchy tissues we had around the house.

And it felt like insult to injury.

Already sick. Already miserable. Already blowing my nose constantly. And then the tissue was making my face feel worse.

Fast-forward to now: another teacher-husband cold has entered the chat, except this time I’m packing Blow Tissues orders to take to USPS and using the product I built because of that exact problem.

Constant tissue use.
No red, raw nose.
No scratchy paper punishment.

Not complaining. Just very much appreciating that past me got annoyed enough to fix this.

The Guardian just reported that paper goods could get hit hard by the Canada-U.S. tariff mess, including toilet paper and facial tissue stock.

Why?

Because a lot of traditional paper products still depend on wood pulp and lumber-heavy supply chains.

So if tissues are about to get more expensive anyway, I have a thought:

Maybe this is the time to stop paying more for the same thin, scratchy tissue in a disposable cardboard box.

I spent the day using one Blow Tissue just to prove a point.

Because when a tissue is soft 5-ply bamboo and actually holds up, one can do a lot more than you expect.

Blow your nose. Fold it. Use it again. Handle the little moments that would normally have you reaching for another thin tissue two seconds later.

This is the part people don’t always get until they try it.
