Fairytales are real in North Oaks, Minnesota.

The North Oaks Estate blends classic European cottage architecture with a natural stone exterior, arched French doors, and soft blue shutters that give the whole home a storybook feel.

Every curved roofline and detail was chosen to make this house feel timeless rather than trendy.

Tell us in the comments which detail you would want to recreate in your own home.

A well built home should be as kind to the planet as it is to live in.

City Homes has signed partnership agreements with Energy Star and Zero Energy Ready Homes and is Green Path Certified, which means every custom home and remodel we take on across Edina and the Twin Cities is built with energy efficiency and long term performance in mind.

From LED lighting to Energy Star appliances, small choices add up to real savings for our clients over time.

Save this post if sustainable building is on your list for your next project, and visit the link in our bio to learn more.

Not every builder will show you every bid.

City Homes prices every custom home and remodel on a cost plus, fully open book basis, which means our clients see every bid and invoice before it is ever approved, with all trade discounts passed directly back to them.

We also quote our price per square foot to include everything, architect fees, interior designer fees, and landscaping, so there are no surprises later in the process.

Every bay on Lake Minnetonka has its own personality.

City Homes has built custom lake homes across Crystal Bay, Jennings Bay, Smithtown Bay, and Grays Bay, and each one is designed around how the family actually uses the water, the dock, and the outdoor space.

Whether it is a retirement retreat or a home meant to hold three generations at once, we design lake homes that are built to be used and enjoyed for decades.

Comment your favorite Minnesota lake below and tell us why.

What does it actually cost to build a custom home in Edina or Lake Minnetonka.

It is one of the first questions every client asks us, and the honest answer is that most custom builds in our area fall between 400 and 600 dollars per square foot, with high end finishes pushing closer to 800 dollars or more.

City Homes prices every project on a cost plus, fully open book basis, so our clients see every bid and invoice before it is approved.

Extra space does not have to mean a bigger house.

Accessory dwelling units, sometimes called ADUs, are reshaping the way homeowners across the Twin Cities think about guest houses, home offices, and multigenerational living, and City Homes has built several right here in Edina.

We break down everything from cost to permitting to design in our full guide on the blog.

Click the link in our bio to read the complete ADU guide and see real examples from our portfolio!

Nothing tells our story better than the people we have built for.

One of our Edina clients recently shared that City Homes helped them find the perfect lot, the right architect, and a team that brought their vision to life in record time, even during a global pandemic.

Stories like this are exactly why we do this work, project after project, year after year.

Aging in place is not about giving anything up.

As a Certified Aging in Place Specialist builder based in Edina, City Homes designs features like zero threshold showers, wider doorways, and in home elevators so our clients can stay independent in their own homes for as long as they want.

These details are planned from the very first design meeting rather than added later, which keeps the home feeling beautiful rather than clinical.
