What actually makes a home feel custom? It's rarely one big thing. It's the details.

Integrated storage that hides the clutter. Architectural moments that draw your eye. Materials chosen to work together instead of competing. The small decisions add up to a home that feels like it was made for the people in it, because it was.

This Twin Cities home didn't need fixing. It needed to catch up to the life inside it.

The lower level was the biggest opportunity. What had been underused space became the part of the house that quietly welcomes people in. A cozy daybed nook gives them a spot to unwind with a book, and a place for family to stay overnight without feeling like an afterthought. We reworked the bathroom and laundry to feel open and easy to move through, and added a sliding door so the space can offer privacy or open up for guests.

It works beautifully today, and it's ready for whatever comes next.

For this young Twin Cities family, the kitchen had quietly become a daily obstacle. Tight walkways, not enough storage, three disconnected dining areas.

So we reworked the layout from the ground up. Three dining areas became two, which freed up the square footage to expand the kitchen itself. The room now opens naturally into the spaces around it, and a central island anchors everything, with a place for quick breakfasts, homework, and the conversations that carry through the day.

Today the kitchen feels less like a pass-through and more like a place to stay.

There's a whole floor of your house you're probably using for storage.

For a lot of Minneapolis and Twin Cities homeowners, the lower level is the biggest untapped space they own. Finished well, it becomes the room the family actually fights over. A home gym five steps away, a media room for movie nights, a guest suite for the in-laws.

In Minnesota, the details you can't see are the ones that matter most. Moisture, egress, warm floors, radon. We plan for all of it while we're still designing the room, not after the walls go up.
