A restaurant has to do a lot.

It has to move people through the space, make the ordering experience clear, give families room to settle in, handle the after-game rush, and still feel like somewhere you actually want to stay. Lighting, temperature, noise and visuals are all crucial considerations that either enhance or take away from this experience.

For Track Town Pizza’s second location, our team helped design a space that could carry that energy - open, bright, flexible, and rooted in the Thurston community but also continuing Track Town's brand identity.

Sarah Elizabeth Design, LLC helped bring warmth and personality into the interior. KPFF Eugene structural supported the coordination behind the scenes. Dorman Construction, Inc helped carry the work through construction. Curtis Restaurant Equipment brought the detailed equipment & insight, and PNW Electric, LLC.made everything bright. Cabinetry was crafted by LJ Pearson Construction and ES&A Sign & Awning fabricated and installed the custom Jumbotron, because sometimes a pizza restaurant does, in fact, need a Jumbotron. Not to mention the awesome graphics from !

The result is a space built for lunch specials, family dinner, teams, celebrations, and the kind of local gathering that makes a restaurant feel like part of the greater community.

Behind every finished project is a team of people working through the details together.

We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with Dorman Construction, Inc, a team we’ve worked alongside on projects like The Thurston Life Foundation, Relief Nursery, Northwood Christian Church, Budget Blinds, and more.

From early site walks to construction check-ins to the final celebration, these projects come together because of clear communication, trust, and shared care for the people who will use the space every day.

We value partners who show up, solve problems, and help bring thoughtful design to life.

Here’s to the work behind the walls, and the people who make it happen.

Good design decisions do not always happen before construction begins.

Sometimes they happen after the walls open up.

At Treetops, the team discovered that the wall between the stairway and a small bedroom was non-bearing. It also split a set of ribbon windows in a way that suggested the room may have been added later, rather than being part of the home’s original layout.

That discovery opened up a better option.

Instead of keeping a tight stair landing and a small divided room, the team could look at how the space might work better for the house today.

Working with Six Degrees Construction Company our team studied the existing conditions and adjusted the plan based on what the building was showing us.

The result: a brighter, more open stair landing that feels more natural to the home.

In historic renovation, the drawings matter.

But once construction begins, the building has something to say too.

A church should feel welcoming from the moment you arrive.

Life Bible Church in Harrisburg, Oregon was designed as a 600-seat space for worship, connection and community. Set along the Willamette River, the design brought together a new auditorium, coffee bar, classrooms, offices, youth spaces, and gathering areas.

Warm wood beams, natural stone, soft lighting, and open gathering spaces give the building a Northwest feel that fits its setting. One of our favorite details is the large stone fireplace in the lobby, created as a natural place for people to gather before and after services.

The project also included sustainable, practical, long-lasting choices like LED lighting, efficient heating and cooling, low-flow fixtures, and durable finishes.

For churches thinking about a new building, expansion, or remodel, Arbor South can help from early conceptual planning and funding guidance through design and construction.

Planning your church’s next chapter? Let’s start the conversation.

Historic renovation requires more than a design vision. It requires patience, documentation, and a willingness to let the existing structure inform the next decision.

At Treetops, the former Chancellors House at the University of Oregon, early field discoveries are helping shape the restoration process. Existing materials, old floor layers, original details, and construction conditions all become part of the conversation.

That is where collaboration matters. Working with Six Degrees Construction Company, our team is able to study what is uncovered in the field and respond thoughtfully - not just with what looks good on paper, but with what respects the home and supports the work ahead.

In historic work, the building often has something to say. The responsibility is to listen carefully before deciding what comes next.

The best restaurant design is not just about how a space looks.

It is about how people feel when they walk in, where they naturally gather, and whether the space can carry the energy of the community around it.

For Track Town Pizza - Campus & East Springfield second location, our team helped shape a restaurant that could support more than daily dining. The space needed to feel lively and welcoming for families, students, teams, and post-game gatherings near Thurston High School.

That kind of experience does not come from one detail alone. It comes from thoughtful collaboration.

Sarah Elizabeth Design, LLC Interiors helped bring warmth and personality to the interior experience. KPFF Eugene provided the structural engineering to make it work. Dorman Construction, Inc helped carry the work through construction. ES&A Sign & Awning fabricated and installed the custom Jumbotron, giving the restaurant a memorable focal point that reflects the energy of the brand.

Good commercial design does more than fill a space.

It helps a business serve people better.

What is one restaurant or gathering space that has always felt especially inviting to you?

Some projects carry a level of responsibility that goes beyond typical design considerations.

At Arbor South, working with organizations like Looking Glass that serve vulnerable populations requires a careful approach to safety, function, and long-term performance.

This is a reminder that design decisions, coordination, and experience all play a role in creating environments that support and protect the people who rely on them every day.

Permitting isn’t just paperwork, it’s where projects either move forward… or stall out.

As Chad Westphal, CEO of Looking Glass shared, having the right expertise in the room can make a measurable difference, not just in timelines, but in cost, safety, and long-term impact.

Bill Randall's experience navigating complex permitting processes has helped save resources that can be redirected where they matter most, supporting youth and families in our community.

This is what thoughtful, mission-aligned design looks like in practice.

At Arbor South, early design work often starts with how a home will actually be used - not just how it will look in a finished photo.

These renderings explore outdoor living as an extension of the home, with layered deck spaces, covered gathering areas, and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

Designing for views, movement, and gathering from the beginning helps shape a home that feels intentional and connected to its setting.
