The 4/4 Olive Slabs have been flying off the rack!!! We still have several to choose from. $20.50 per board foot.

If you have never worked with it, Olive wood is a dense, exceptionally hard hardwood prized for its striking golden-yellow color and dramatic brown or black swirling grain patterns.

Highly popular for handmade cutting boards, charcuterie platters, bowls, and wooden utensils because its natural oils resist moisture and bacteria.

Metro offers a large selection of high quality Combi-Core sheet goods. In fact, we may have the best selection of in-stock sheet goods across the Kansas City area. We carry 3/4” thick 4x8 sheets in Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Hickory, Alder, Red Grandis, Mahogany, Red Oak, White Oak, White Oak Quarter Sawn, and White Oak Rift Sawn.

What is Combi-Core? It is a hybrid panel that combines a traditional inner wood veneer core with thin outer layers of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) right beneath the decorative face and back veneers.

Why choose Combi-Core?

Smooth Surface: The MDF crossbands prevent the inner wood grain or core irregularities from showing through ("telegraphing") the outer veneer.

Strong Fasteners: It keeps the superior screw and fastener-holding strength of an inner veneer core compared to full MDF or particleboard panels.

Lighter Weight: It weighs less than a full MDF or particleboard core panel.

Better Flatness: It offers high dimensional stability and precise thickness tolerances for clean cutting and cabinet making.

Metro stocks Baltic Birch in 48x96, 60x60, and 30x30 sheets in a variety of thicknesses from 1/8” up to 3/4”.

Baltic Birch is a high quality, multi-ply hardwood plywood known for its exceptional strength, stability, and void-free core.

Baltic Birch is made entirely of birch veneers with no soft filler plies. Each ply is of equal thickness (approximately 1.5 mm each) and cross banded at 90 degrees for maximum warping resistance.

Baltic Birch is ideal for building cabinet boxes as well as drawer sides and bottoms. It’s also perfect for building jigs, templates, and shop fixtures. Additionally, Baltic Birch is great for laser projects and scroll saw work due to the core being nearly void free.

Metro offers a wide variety of shorter length boards for your smaller projects or when you want to experiment with exotic lumber but don’t want to invest in a full length board.

We currently have shorts in Spalted Tamarind, Purple Heart, Old Growth Cocobolo, Wenge, Tiger Wood, Blood Wood, Olive Wood, Zebra Wood, Honduran Rosewood, and several others.

Some of the most popular projects for these boards include signs, picture frames, art, kitchen products, charcuterie boards, and boxes (just to name a few).
