KICKBACK
- Rich Harwood follows up on the aluminum WoodRiver straight edges and how useful they can be in the shop, especially when checked against a higher-end reference straight edge. His Starrett steel straight edge stays protected and only comes out to verify the cheaper straight edges are still good enough for machine setup and project work.
STANDOUT COMPANIES AND PRODUCTS
- We saw a ton of great products and talked to a lot of companies, so apologies in advance if we missed anything.
- We also apologize in advance if we accidentally mention something we weren’t supposed to, because some companies had products on display that may not be ready for public consumption yet.
- MicroJig had things we can’t talk about.
- SawStop had fear in their eyes.
- Kreg showed the Edge Joiner, with a planned 9/1 release.
- Kreg also has a trim router coming 9/1.
- Oliver had a belt sander that caught our attention.
- Izzy Swan was there with Swan Tools.
- Old Masters showed a water-based finish with an accelerator that doesn’t ruin everything, plus products for making wood grain.
- WoodRiver had new planes, though nothing too specific to share yet.
- Walrus Oil had a nice, cohesive line of products and online custom mixing.
- Easy Wood Tools had pen turning tools, giant tools, baseball bats, and a bunch of other accessories.
- Carbon Method had hand tool-related products.
- Grit Grip was there.
- JessEm had a great overall vibe, including work on bringing more router production to Canada and no-slip rules.
- Temple Tools had Japanese tools.
- Powermatic had a nice update to their planer.
