Looking at these before-and-afters, it’s hard to believe this is the same house.
The original kitchen certainly had its charming features. We loved the existing bay windows, and the size of the space was great, but there were also a few funky elements to work through. There was no island, an awkward open area looked directly into the living room, and a clunky ( and unfortunately unmovable) drywalled beam that ran through the center of the ceiling.
We approached this transformation with careful consideration, not just aesthetically, but functionally. Every inch of the space was reimagined to create better flow, more purposeful moments, and a kitchen that feels as beautiful as it is livable.
We added an island that looks like an antique piece, but was actually built fully custom. We closed off the peekaboo wall to create more usable wall space, making room for three new full-height pantry cabinets and open shelving for display. And lastly, we wrapped the unsightly beam in wood, turning a design problem into a pretty architectural moment.
