Low Maintenance Landscape started business in
2001 as a small local landscape design-build
company.

Our landscape design-build firm takes pride in offering highly attentive design plans, long lasting natural landscape installations, as well as expert garden maintenance to the Lawrence, KS area. Our goal was to offer the absolute best
quality work, customer service and competitive pricing
available. We specialize in offering a different kind of
landscape; one that will stand the test of time by
using well adapted and native plant material. Many
years later we have grown into well known, top notch,
full service, regional landscape company. We have
never forgotten our roots and have a commitment to
strive for the best ratings in the industry. The
greatest change from our beginning days is the influx
of business. We have adapted to this greater
demand by hiring the best team of qualified,
knowledgeable, and friendly employees. We have
been featured on the Channel 6 evening news, a
local garden show, "Home and Away" show, and have
been in several newspaper articles. Ryan has also
published a wonderful reference book at Oklahoma
State University; UNDER-UTILIZED NATIVE PLANTS
OF OKLAHOMA

We grow thousands of locally grown perennials, shrubs, trees, bamboos, hardy tropicals, grasses,
edible plants, xeriscape plants, native plants, dry-shade plants and unusual/rare plants. We grow
many “hard to find” plants you won’t find at the garden centers or box stores. We do not really
have an availability list but most items on our list are available most of the time; you may call to
check on the availability of a particular plant. Most of our plants are organically grown and
pesticides are not needed or used at all. Our plants are grown in a natural topsoil mix to promote
faster establishment when planted in your landscape.

Have you heard about serviceberry, downy serviceberry, or Juneberries?
The Amelanchier arborea, is the large shrub/small tree variety and is one of my most favorite plants because it produces berries edible to humans and wildlife, it is low maintenance, and it gives beautiful, reddish leaves in fall.
Apparently, it is one of Robin Wall Kimmerer's favorites too, as she named her recent book...The Serviceberry!
The Amelanchier family gives us small tree/large shrub versions, and some smaller, more columnar-shaped shrubs which can be used for visual screening by creating a living fence.

We support KPR!
For the first time ever, we are collaborating with the KPR & Audio Reader Sensory Garden to support a transition to a lower-maintenance garden. Laura Odell is consulting with their Director, Head Volunteer Gardener, and Volunteer Coordinator to make a plan that requires less irrigation, mulch, and replacement plantings.
Stop by the garden to watch the changes this year, and support KPR.

Happy National Gardening Day! We are looking for professional gardeners to join our maintenance team. We are also willing to train new gardeners who enjoy working outside and learning about plants! -Starting pay $16 per hour, with yearly raises and end of the year bonuses. Lots of creative potential to grow.
-Schedule M-F 8:00-5:00 (includes 2 paid breaks & off clock lunch if more than 30 mins)
-NO mandatory weekends or crazy industry overtime.
-Dental, Vision, 401k & Life Insurance
-Paid Holidays after 90 days for fulltime crew members i.e. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, & Christmas or closest day to it depending on where it lands.
