Shipping Update

I'm still working through shipping the backlog of winter orders. I'm hoping to get caught up before we leave for the Hosta convention on June 9th. Orders placed now will likely ship after we get back from the convention the week of June 15th.

Some plants have been backordered, some have been cancelled by my suppliers, we had some crop failures over winter, and a few were much smaller than I expected; so you may see refunds and notes on your packing slip. If you have a note that says backordered, those plants will get shipped as soon as they're ready.

Please remember, I (Nick) do all the day to day nursery work and packing orders is extremely time consuming. I don't pack orders on Friday or Saturday because UPS doesn't pick up on the weekend. If you have an outstanding order from winter, it will arrive very soon. If there are any issues on arrival or you don't see a refund for something come through, just let me know.

Thanks for everyone's patience!

It's Memorial Day weekend and the 7 day forecast looks pretty good! We're open 10-5 every day this weekend and most days going forward. We have a lot of great perennials available here at the nursery. We have a very limited number of tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and tomatillos, large rhubarb, chives, and elderberries available now. Starting next Thursday, I'll be at the White Lake Farmers and Makers Market most weeks!

I've been watching the forecast slowly slide down into the 20s for the next 2 nights, so I'm putting everything back in the greenhouses until Thursday. Which means if you show up tomorrow, you won't have any plants to look at! I'll be restocking benches on Thursday and will be open. We'll still be looking at frost, but plants can be covered for frost, which isn't as effective against freezing.

Check out the emerging foliage of Iris versicolor 'Purple Flame'! The foliage of this blue flag iris will turn fully green as it matures and the season warms up, but it's a real knockout in spring. I'll be adding some spring ephemerals and more Primroses to this area to compliment that purple.

We will be open for the season starting Saturday, May 2nd! I'll be starting to get plants out of the greenhosues to stock the benches at 10am. Best to shop after 11am. Not everything is ready, but we will have a very good selection ready for sale. With nearly 400 varieties, we have the best selection of perennials in the area!

A Quick Update!

I wanted to send a quick update regarding opening for the season. The plan was to open Friday May 1st. But the weather has its own plans; tomorrow night is forecast to be 27 degrees and Friday night 25 degrees. That's awfully cold to be bringing plants out. So my current plan is to start bringing plants out on Saturday once it warms up, as long as the overnight forecast for Saturday (currently 34 degrees, we can cover at that temperature) doesn't change drastically. This means if you show up at 10am on Saturday, there probably won't be much out on the benches. So Saturday afternoon is the earliest time you want to show up. If the weather changes and we delay further, we'll update via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/botanophilia) and our homepage (https://www.iloveshadeplants.com/) . And of course, not everything is ready yet.

I'll start shipping in earnest this week yet as well. I got a couple orders out last week, but still needed some paperwork to arrive before shipping more. Luckily the paperwork arrived Monday and we can get started.

Thanks, and see you soon!

We had a great time at the Midwest Primrose Show this weekend! Thanks to everyone who attended and bought plants or just chatted with us. The gardens were beautiful and hosts are always wonderful. Dean Wiegert's talk about Anomalous Primroses was excellent, and even though I've grown Primroses for many years, clarification of some of the types and their genetics was really helpful!
