On Tuesday evening, CBP Architects hosted a reception for State Senator Tim Kearney at our office!

As the only architect in the Pennsylvania State Legislature, Tim advocates for solutions that improve the quality of life for local communities and the general public, including access to public education, clean energy, reliable transportation, and safe neighborhoods. Exploring Housing as a Human Right: An Evening with CBP Architects

Tomorrow evening, CBP Architects will be opening our doors from 6pm to 9pm to discuss the revolutionary - or not! - idea of housing.

We’re pleased to share additional images of our recently completed affordable housing project, Ruth Street Civic House!

Ruth Street’s interior was designed to enhance the dignity and safety of residents. Dwelling units feature large windows and closets, solid surface counters, wood cabinetry, and other amenities. A spacious lobby with a variety of gathering areas and finishes creates a living-room feel and a welcoming entrance experience.

Ruth Street Civic House, which provides 44 units of much needed affordable, workforce housing in Kensington, is now complete!

Working with New Kensington CDC, Ruth Street incorporates materials similar to surrounding rowhomes and the nearby Orinoka Civic House to integrate itself into its community. A combination of brick, metal panel siding, and fiber cement cladding articulate bays that give the project a neighborly scale and respond to its surroundings.

Today, CBP Architects attended the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia’s Celebrate Hope Annual Luncheon! Hosted in the Wanamaker Building, this event raised support for the Salvation Army’s services, with an emphasis on its programs that provide housing, support, and sponsor activities for senior citizens.

We’re proud to announce that managing partner Nancy Bastian has been selected as the 2026 John Frederick Harbeson Award Recipient!

This honor is presented annually to a long-standing member of the architectural community for their significant contributions to the profession and to the Philadelphia community throughout their lifetime.

Nancy has devoted the last thirty years of her career to advancing her firm’s affordable housing practice; designing quality spaces for families, seniors, people with disabilities, and those in recovery. She has also contributed to numerous professional organizations advocating for housing in the Philadelphia region and beyond. We are immensely proud of Nancy.

CBP Architects was pleased to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Barry R. Sharer Pavilion yesterday!

Work has begun on this project, which will feature 42 units of affordable housing and a first-floor medical suite. Once integrated into its larger campus, the Pavilion will help support Woods Services clients with behavioral health complexities, autism, and developmental disabilities. Completion is expected in Summer 2027.

We are excited to see construction on this project underway and are grateful to the many supporters, advocates, and representatives who made it possible!

CBP Architects recently welcomed Berke Meder to our firm!

After earning his B.Arch and M.Arch in Turkey, Berke won a national competition, co-founded a firm in Istanbul, and led a winning municipal streetscape commission from design through documentation. Since joining CBP in 2026, he has leveraged his abundance of design experience to contribute to the firm's affordable housing work.

Outside the office, Berke lives in South Philadelphia and enjoys playing basketball, table tennis, and chess.

CBP Architects recently welcomed Kartini Divya to our firm!

Kartini joined CBP Architects in 2026 after a decade of experience across healthcare, commercial, and residential projects. Growing up in Bangalore, she studied art and science, which inspired her to pursue a career in architecture and become a licensed architect in India. She serves the AIA Philadelphia Committee on the Environment and has taught design fundamentals to middle school students.

Outside the office, Kartini enjoys traveling, hiking, and playing in an all-percussion band in the City.

CBP Architects recently welcomed David Owe back to our firm! After interning last summer, David joined CBP full-time in 2026 and has since supported the firm’s affordable housing projects.

Born in Lagos, David was inspired by Nigeria’s culture of extended families designing their own homes. He combines his design skills with an interest in the social, environmental, and real estate forces that shape multifamily housing. In his free time, David enjoys traveling, playing soccer, painting, and 3D printing. He is currently involved with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).
