A new chapter begins for the City of Raleigh's Sertoma Arts Center! 🎉

Our team was thrilled to be there today to celebrate the groundbreaking of this long-awaited expansion and renovation. This is an exciting milestone for a facility that plays such an important role in Raleigh’s arts community.

This project will create new gallery and ceramics studio spaces, a welcoming lobby, improved restrooms and locker areas, and enhanced accessibility—creating more opportunities for the community to learn, create, gather, and experience the arts.

We are proud to partner with the Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department and Raleigh Arts to help shape the next chapter of Sertoma Arts Center and can’t wait to see this beloved community resource come to life!

Progress is taking shape at the NC DEQ Reedy Creek Laboratory Campus! Phase 2 of this complex, occupied renovation is well underway, and it's exciting to see the transformation happening across campus. Several new spaces are coming together, including the new 35,000-square-foot office facility, as the project continues to reach key construction milestones.

Delivering a phased renovation within an active laboratory campus requires careful coordination, clear communication, and constant collaboration. We are proud of our team and this continuing collaborative effort!

HH Architecture is excited to see several of our projects highlighted in Raleigh Magazine’s recent feature on the City of Raleigh’s Parks Bond initiatives. From the redevelopment of Tarboro Road Park to the renovation and expansion of the Sertoma Arts Center and John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Center, these projects represent meaningful investments in spaces where people gather, learn, and connect.

It’s especially rewarding to partner with the City of Raleigh on projects that will have a lasting impact right here in our local community. These projects will enrich the lives of residents for generations to come, and we’re honored to be a part of it.

As our region continues to grow, strong partnerships, thoughtful planning, and building a network remain key to delivering successful projects that balance budget, quality, and long-term value.

Exciting progress is underway at the North Carolina Museum of Art’s East Building and Museum Park renovations!

This week included a major construction milestone with the project beam signing, followed by yesterday’s site tour with members of the Building Enclosure Council Research Triangle chapter. The tour provided an opportunity to share the project’s progress and collaborate with industry partners and peers while experiencing the momentum taking shape in the field firsthand.

From significant construction milestones to meaningful conversations around building performance, preservation, and design, the project is continuing to take shape in exciting ways. We’re grateful for the collaboration and dedication of everyone involved and look forward to seeing the transformation continue in the months ahead.

It's history in the making ! We’re partnered with City of Raleigh - Government and the Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department on the renovation and expansion of the John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center, which features historical displays and exhibits that interpret and honor the culture of the city's South Park and East Raleigh neighborhoods.

The project includes a detached extension with updated community spaces for indoor and outdoor events, a newly-configured hosting room in the main building, refreshed interior finishes and systems, extensive site and stormwater improvements that help create wayfinding and community context, and improvements to structure and entryways.

New indoor and outdoor spaces will also be used to tie this project into the existing South Park Heritage Trail, further increasing awareness of the area's rich history and its importance to downtown Raleigh.

We're so honored to play a part in a project that enriches the community, and plays a part in both the past and future of the fabric of Raleigh.

We had a wonderful time this week at the ribbon cutting for Lichtin Plaza, in front of the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts! The redesigned plaza serves as a welcoming and vibrant space for the downtown community, featuring new accessible ramps leading to the venue, along with a reconfigured driveway and designated drop-off lane positioned closer to the building entrance for added convenience.

We're so happy to be a part of the development in Downtown Raleigh, which will continue to benefit the businesses, residents, and visitors making our city flourish.

Last week our team had the privilege of sponsoring and attending the annual Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle Welcome Home Gala, an evening dedicated to supporting families in need and celebrating the impact of community.

One of the highlights of the night was experiencing Poetry Fox, a local poet who crafts custom poems on the spot using an old typewriter. We offered him a single word: architecture.

What came back was a thoughtful reminder that the work we do goes beyond buildings. Our work creates a little bit of magic, in its own way, by shaping experiences, strengthening connections, and supporting the well-being of the communities we serve every day ✨
