🎉 Congratulations to Douglas County School District on the topping-out ceremony at Sierra Middle School, celebrating the raising of the beam! QKA’s Danielle Dratch and Joel Williams attended on behalf of the firm.

Fort Bragg Unified School District recently celebrated the completion of the Noyo High School. 🎉 QKA's Anna Wells, Chris Calder, Kevin Chapin, joined the district and project team in celebrating this exciting milestone.

Project Highlights:

• Construction of a new school campus featuring three single-story buildings 🏫
• Administration & Student Services Building with staff offices, student and staff support spaces, conference rooms, restrooms, and a kitchenette
• Classroom buildings with student and staff restrooms and utility rooms 📚
• Site improvements including new utility connections, landscaping, a utility yard, site lighting, an athletic court, and new propane installation

QKA’s Malia Johnson recently had the opportunity to give back to Fremont High School’s Architecture Academy, a program she once participated in as a student!

Malia joined fellow industry and community partners for a focus group supporting the program’s Linked Learning Gold Certification. She shared her perspective as both an alumna and a QKA team member, reflecting on her path from Fremont High School, Home of the Tigers to a career in architecture and QKA’s involvement with the program.

It’s great to see the Architecture Academy continue to grow and its students thrive!

🎉 Fremont Union High School District recently celebrated the completion of the Lynbrook High School New Makerspace.

QKA's Aaron Jobson and Nick Stephenson joined the district and project team in celebrating this exciting milestone, with Nick speaking at the event. Funded through the district’s voter-approved Measure G bond program, the new facility provides a state-of-the-art environment for hands-on learning.

Project Highlights
• New 5,780-square-foot, single-story makerspace building
• Designed to accommodate up to 165 users
• Replaces undersized, outdated portable classrooms with a permanent, state-of-the-art facility
• Multi-use classroom and specialized spaces for engineering and design
• Makerspace shop and robot testing room
• Three all-gender restrooms and supporting utility spaces
• Energy-efficient design featuring natural daylighting, roof top 7.52 kW PV array, high-efficiency LED lighting, electric heat pumps and ceiling fans, and exterior shading to improve indoor comfort and reduce energy consumption
• Associated site improvements and underground utilities

QKA’s Chris Calder and Ryan Kates recently hit the links at Crow Canyon Country Club for Swing For the Sisterhood, supporting The Sisterhood of Sobriety and its mission. ⛳

It was a meaningful day centered on community, connection, and a cause that both Chris and Ryan care deeply about. Hearing from the program’s alumni was an especially powerful part of the event, highlighting the impact that support and opportunities for recovery can have on individuals and families.

At QKA, our commitment to students and communities extends beyond the spaces we design. We’re grateful Chris and Ryan had the opportunity to represent QKA and support a cause that means so much to them.

Construction Inclusion Week is an opportunity to come together, share experiences, and reflect on how our industry can continue becoming more inclusive and supportive of future generations.

As part of CIW, Malia Johnson participated in a panel focused on young professionals and how the industry can better support and connect with emerging talent. Drawing from her own journey, Malia shared how mentorship, networking, and meaningful relationships have helped shape her education and career.

Her experience is a reminder that building a stronger, more inclusive industry starts with investing in people, sharing knowledge, and creating opportunities for the next generation to grow.

QKA recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special event honoring our team, clients, partners, and community. The celebration also provided an opportunity to formally recognize founders Mark Quattrocchi and Steve Kwok on their retirement and to reflect on the lasting impact they have had on the firm over the past four decades. We are incredibly grateful for their vision, leadership, and dedication in building the foundation of what QKA is today.

The event was held at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, a setting that reflects QKA's commitment to creating healthy, sustainable environments that support learning and inspire future generations. Surrounded by exhibits that educate and connect people with the natural world, guests gathered to celebrate our history, our people, and the values that continue to guide us forward.
