From bountiful blossoms in the nursery to artfully reimagined vintage finds in the shop and a handpicked selection of gifts and decor featuring local artists and vendors.

One of my favorite things about owning The Eclectic Cottage is the opportunity it gives me to feature the work of local artists and makers.

There is something special about filling the shop with pieces created right here in our region. Each artist brings their own talent, personality, style, and creativity to what they make, and all of those individual touches come together to help make The Eclectic Cottage feel truly unique and eclectic.

I also love knowing that when I bring their work into the shop, I’m not only finding something wonderful to share with you — I’m supporting another small business as well.

That connection between local businesses, artists, makers, and the people who choose to shop with us is something I’m incredibly grateful for.

So today I’m sharing just a few of our Local Cottage Favorites — and celebrating some of the wonderful local businesses whose creativity helps make the Cottage what it is. 🤎

Tonight is our second Hot Summer Night at the Cottage—although September seems to have decided “Hot” is optional. 😂🍂

We’ll be staying open until 8:00 tonight, with the lights glowing in the nursery, fall filling the shop, and John’s Dawg House out front serving hot dogs, German sausages, and chili.

It may be a sweater kind of night, but that sounds pretty perfect to us.

Come spend a little Friday evening with us here at the Cottage. 🤎

I am loving the way fall is settling into the Cottage. 🍂

I’ve added some wonderful new things for the season — delicious jams and spreads, fall-inspired floral elixirs, new books for the slower days ahead, and plenty of beautiful journals, notebooks and paper goods.

And of course, all of those new finds are mixed in with pieces from several local artists, my own handcrafted creations, vintage treasures, upcycled furniture, home decor and all the other little things that make the Cottage what it is.

And don’t forget — the nursery is still open and full of late-season color, too. 🌿

September really is such a wonderful time to visit the Cottage. There is so much to see both inside and out. ❤️

Happy September! 🍂

The season is beginning to shift, and honestly, I’m ready for it. Cooler days, softer light, and some of the best planting weather of the year are just ahead.

To celebrate, starting today all perennial plants gallon size and under are Buy 2, Get 1 Free in the nursery here at The Cottage.

There are still lots of great choices waiting for a home, and September is a wonderful time to get them planted while the soil is still warm and the temperatures are a little kinder.

Come see what’s blooming and take advantage of the sale while the nursery is still full. 🌿

September is almost here, which always feels like the unofficial beginning of fall to me. 🍂

Inside The Cottage, the season has already settled in. Pumpkins, warm woods, amber glass, autumn florals, candles, books, handmade pieces, cozy little touches for home — and even a few delicious seasonal treats.

I’ve been gathering and creating for this season for months, and there is so much tucked into every corner of the shop right now.

So if you’re like me and September 1st is the date you’ve been waiting for before officially embracing fall… I think we’re close enough. 😉

Come see what’s waiting for you inside The Cottage. 🤎

This week’s mission was to take a few pieces of scrap wood from my stash and turn them into something beautiful for fall. 🍂

Pieces like these are such a big part of what makes The Eclectic Cottage feel the way it does. Throughout the shop, you’ll find things I’ve created tucked in alongside pieces made by other artists, vintage finds, seasonal decor, and all sorts of little treasures waiting to be discovered.

I love that there is always something different to catch your eye as you wander through the shop — a mix of old and new, handmade and found, all thoughtfully gathered together to create the eclectic mix that gives the Cottage its own unique character.

These new fall pieces have found their way into the shop, and they add another beautiful touch of autumn to the Cottage.

If you’d like to see how they were created, this week’s YouTube video is up now and takes you through the whole process.

Late summer is a wonderful time to take stock of your garden and notice what might be missing — are you in need of a little more color, some texture, a bit more height, or maybe even a touch of drama?

Now is a perfect time to really look at your garden as we head toward fall and add the things that will carry color, texture, and interest into the season ahead. 🌿

If you find that you have a few spaces that could use something new, our perennial sale is still going on at the Cottage:
Buy 3 perennials, get the 4th FREE 🌱
4", quart & gallon perennials
(lowest-priced plant is free)

There’s still plenty of gardening season left to enjoy. ❤️

There’s something about a small creative project that just feels so good this time of year. 🍂

These wooden bookmarks started as simple blanks, but with a little paint, pretty papers, stencils, wax, and tassels, each one slowly took on its own personality.

I love the mix of florals, warm autumn colors, and slightly vintage details. They feel like the kind of little handmade pieces you’d tuck into a favorite book, leave on a bedside table, or pair with a book as a simple gift.

The full project is up on YouTube if you’d like to see how they all came together. ❤️

Late summer is looking pretty lovely here in the garden right now. ❤️

The hardy hibiscus are blooming, the hydrangeas are beginning to take on their autumnal colors, and there is still so much beauty to be discovered out in the nursery.

There’s something about being surrounded by the garden that always makes me feel a little more grounded. And lately, every now and then, I can almost feel the first hints of autumn waiting just around the corner. 🍂
