I screwed up.
Had a guest at one of my cabins complaining the AC wasn’t keeping up. Back and forth, remote troubleshooting, eventually had to send someone out. The reactive scramble I tell every other operator they should never be in.
The frustrating part? I know better. A small sensor in the supply vent would have told me the second the air coming out stopped being cold. I’d have known before the guest ever touched the thermostat — could have had a tech dispatched before the complaint came in.
That’s the whole point of monitoring. You find out from your system, not from your guest.
I preach this to every owner I talk to and somehow hadn’t deployed it on my own property yet. Fixed now. But the irony isn’t lost on me.
If you’re running luxury rentals and waiting for guests to tell you something’s wrong, you’re already losing.
