Congrats to Wichita Children's Home on the groundbreaking of the Center for Children’s Healing and Maternity Group Home!

Schaefer has a long history with Wichita Children's Home, dating back to 2013 when we completed a master plan for their campus. That vision led to 70,000 square feet of new construction across three buildings, creating a safe and welcoming place for Wichita’s youth.

Wichita Children’s Home is continuing its mission with the Center for Children’s Healing, a transformative space dedicated to addressing the effects of childhood trauma, violence, grief, and loss.

The WCH Maternity Group Home will also relocate to the campus, providing supportive amenities and resources for young families.

We’re grateful to have been part of the process, from planning and design to supporting fundraising efforts. We are excited to see this beautiful space become a resource for children and families for years to come.

Just in time for back to school, we thought we’d throw it back to a historic Schaefer school project! 🍎✏️📓

March 1st, 1965, construction began on the new campus for Butler County Community College. (Now Butler Community College)

Known as El Dorado Junior College at the time, the enrollment was 400 students and operated out of a former grade school. Voters approved a county-wide junior college in place of El Dorado Junior College and 7 buildings were originally constructed for the new campus.

In an interview, architect Robert Eflin described the campus as designed for the utmost efficiency, convenience, and comfort for faculty and students.
