Stock up on antioxidants before winter! 🍇✨️ fruit season isn't quite over yet, and we've got lots of beautiful Concord (seeded) grapes. Available for $4/lb. These guys are perfect for juices, jams, and jellies. This is also the last weekend the nursery is open for retail hours for the season!

Hi everyone! September and Oct have been a whirlwind! We had a fantastic Common Ground -- it was so good to see friends, neighbors, returning customers, and meet new customers and plant lovers! We're winding down for the season, so this month will be your last month to shop for native plants and fruit trees, unless we're shipping to you. We also have special hours the next couple of weekends: closing at 3pm tomorrow, closed Sunday 10/18 (MDI marathon!) and Sunday 10/25 because we'll be selling apple trees at Great Maine Apple Day! 🍎 🍏🌳 fall is a perfect time for planting, so get em while you still can ✨️

P.S. Received this lovely message from a creature in the woods. Pass it on 😉

Enjoying the abundance of late summer - loads of plums, pears, apples, and blooms! Right now we're taking pre-orders for the upcoming sale at Native Gardens of Blue Hill, and our next event will be the Common Ground Block Party on Maine Street in Waterville, Friday the 4th from 4-7pm! We'll bring some plants and some planty art (prints and cards) for that one ✨️ 🌱 🎊

We love letting our garden in front of the house grow a little wild. This is our cheery yellow corner with big lush goldenrod, brown eyed Susan, evening primrose, kale, and a little lanceleaf coreopsis hiding in there. You can never have too many yellow flowers! The pollinators love it too. We also let mint go wild around the doorway so every time you walk through the threshold you get a little aromatherapy 😌

Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta)

Partridge pea, the only annual we sell because it's a beautiful, native, self-seeding nitrogen fixer!

Baby monarch caterpillars are here! 🥹 I may have been stalking them this morning... We've been seeing the monarch butterflies visiting the nursery, and the caterpillars only take 3-5 days to hatch. Here they are munching on Common Milkw**d. We're honored to host these cuties via the various Asclepias species we have here on the farm. At the moment we have Common milkw**d and butterfly w**d (asclepias tuberosa) available for sale.

This is why we don't use pesticides on our native plants. 🐛🦋💜 Instead, we try to maintain plenty of habitat and forage for beneficial insects, to keep populations in balance, and we manually remove non-native pest insects.

We'll be open by appointment only for the month of July! You can make an appointment to shop in person by sending us an email, reaching out through our website, sending us a message on here, whatever works! You can also still order online and then set up a time to pick up the order from the farm. We'll resume our regular Sat/Sun retail hours in August for the rest of the season.
