Vehicle theft has increased sharply this week, with Brakpan ranking high in reported vehicle theft incidents.

Two high‑profile vehicles — a Fortuner and a Land Cruiser — were stolen at a school in Brakpan.

🏠 House Robberies Targeting Elderly

A group of three bravo females and one bravo male is targeting homes, mainly elderly residents.

* They approach homes and start friendly conversations
* Use excuses (e.g. wanting to buy the property or complimenting gardens)
* Their goal is to gain access to the property

Once inside:

* Victims are robbed of valuables (including rings taken off fingers)
* Victims have been threatened/attacked with fi****ms

⚠️ Do not open your door or allow access to unknown individuals.

🐾 Dog Poisoning & Gate Motor Theft

Dog poisoning incidents are linked to gate motor theft.

* Dogs are poisoned to gain access to properties
* Items stolen include gate motors, bicycles, motorbikes, clothing, etc.

⚠️ Watch for suspicious food in your yard and monitor pets closely.

🚗 Vehicle Theft

Vehicle theft remains ongoing.

⚠️ Always lock vehicles and park in secure, well-lit areas.

📱 Scams & Fraud

Scammers are posing as bank officials.

* Claim there is suspicious activity on your account
* Trick victims into transferring money or sharing details

⚠️ Banks will never ask you to move money or share OTPs/PINs.
