At 08h29 CDF Control room received an alarm signal from a client on Market street in Bellville. Charlie 2 was deployed and arrived at the scene at 08h33. Charlie 2 was met by the client at the premises, and a perimeter search indicated a positive break-in. No suspects were found on the property. Together with SAPS, further investigation and searches were conducted at the informal- settlement in the nearby area. 2 Bravo males and 4 Charlie males were said to have been drinking whiskey whilst sitting outside the shacks. When the suspects spotted CDF and SAPS, they immediately started running in different directions, and some jumped from the bridge into the water. SAPS gave chase, following 3 Suspects, whilst Charlie 2 apprehended the three remaining suspects. 1 Bravo male and 2 Charlie males were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Shacks were searched, and the stolen items, including cash, alcohol and sensor light, were found hidden under blankets. Suspects have been charged and are currently behind bars.

At 07h13, the CDF Control room received a distress call from a client in Loevenstein regarding an intruder on his property. Charlie 7 was deployed and arrived together on the scene with SAPS. Upon arrival, the client waited outside the property and guided the officers to the garage where the Bravo suspect was said to be hiding. When searching the garage, Bravo male was found sleeping in the corner clutching several items, including army medals belonging to the client. The suspect was apprehended and arrested by SAPS. Later investigation found that several items were missing from the garage. Fortunately, no injuries occurred.

At 14: 42 today, CDF assisted the Durbanville fire brigade in extinguishing a veld fire on the corner of De Villiers and Fairtree road in Durbanville. Fortunately, a quick response to the fire prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes. CDF always goes beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety of our neighbourhoods. This morning CDF had the pleasure of presenting CDF and its operational protocols to the learners at Curro Durbanville Pre-Primary. Thanks to the teachers and learners for their interest and hospitality. Security is a serious business; however, much fun was had when TS Oosthuizen demonstrated an apprehension and cuffing of a suspect to the learners. CDF goes the extra mile to educate future leaders.
