The earth records its history through sedimentation, as layers of soil, rock, and organic matter settle over time, preserving traces of what came before.
Landscape architecture works with this same passage of time. The places we create will continue to evolve and eventually become part of the earth’s next layer.

At Tropos, this is central to how we understand our work. We cannot control what comes next, but we can take responsibility for the layer we leave behind.

For thousands of years, rain filtered slowly through forests and wetlands, nourishing streams and groundwater along the way.

As cities grew, that journey changed. Roads, rooftops, and storm sewers now move water faster than nature intended, increasing erosion and placing greater pressure on ecosystems.

Protecting our landscapes isn't only about managing water. It's about restoring the natural processes that have sustained them for generations.
