What a waste of historic craftsmanship
A church in Manchester last week was demolished along with its windows. 1860's. The church had been sold to a "developer" who left to rot... then the council ordered the demolition. The church had been empty for a long time and at any point, even during the demolition the stained glass could have been saved.
In Glasgow similar events for a church in the west end. The windows only simply decorated but still salvageable and re usable.
Either developers leave to rot or fires somehow start... either way it is their responsibility to ma
intain and any failure to do so should involve far more scrutiny/repercussions from the council rather than helping them clear the land to replace with modern dross. I think there are incentives to leave empty also, like reduced or no taxes?
