It was smiles all round for the team and our wonderful clients at the Nelson & Marlborough Architecture Awards. Some kind words shared from architect, Justin and home owner, Andrew in their speeches receiving our Housing category award for Oak and Stone.

Another restoration project we have been involved in with is the Nellie Nightingale Memorial Library roof renewal. The library was built in 1978 following a bequest from Nellie Nightingale and action from the Tāhunanui Progressive Association. It was designed by architect Alex Bowman, who led the modernist architecture movement in Nelson for decades. The building has been identified to become a Group A heritage building due to its high architectural and historic significance and we were honoured to be involved in increasing its lifespan.

On the drawing board - we have recently completed a concept for this coastal home. The low-slung design sits down into the gently sloping site. Soft tones with natural timbers and stone anchor the house within it's seaside context. Sheltered courtyards and viewing decks provide options for outdoor living and timber screens provide shade from the western sun.
We are looking forward to bringing the design to life with our clients.

We have been fortunate enough to be involved with multiple dental/oral health projects in recent years. For our latest design we were approached by .dental to fit out their new Richmond clinic. Soft tones and subtle curves create a calming space that is a joy for both patients and staff alike. Now with a high level of expertise in this niche building type we are on the look-out for new work in this space 👀

A basement toilet block at a boy’s school may not sound like the most exciting design prospect. At Redbox, we treat each and every project with the respect and rigour it deserves. From being a dark and uninviting space, we have transformed this facility at Nelson College to give it a new lease of life. Highly durable surfaces paired with recycled ceiling tiles, splashes of colour and timber accents bring a sophistication to what will surely be a well utilised space. The students have exclaimed that the toilets ‘have gone from being the basement to the penthouse.’

On the drawing board - this concept for a house extension to a Nelson Art Deco gem introduces vast amounts of light to the living/dining space and establishes a better connection to the outdoors. We are loving that our clients are embracing the curves with the corner steps for the deck!
