When the owners of this 1800s home first walked through it, they were walking through four separate apartments, each with its own kitchen, bedroom, and bath. What they wanted was one house where visiting family and friends could all stay together, with guest rooms that felt as comfortable as a primary suite.

We took out the apartment that sat right where the family kitchen needed to go, rebuilt the second floor into four bedrooms with their own en-suite baths, and designed the new primary bath around a front window we weren't allowed to move, which is how the freestanding tub ended up with the best view in the house. Along the way our crew found a set of massive original pocket doors hidden in the walls, and they open and close beautifully again today.

Javi spent years in the trade before he ever ran a job site. Ask anyone who's tried to tell him something 'can't be done,' he's heard that line before and usually already knows why it can be done. Will learned to build by watching his grandfather work, and it means he tends to catch a problem with your house before it becomes one.

After 30 years, this family almost traded their 1920s Woodland Heights bungalow for a few hundred acres in the country.

But once they really thought it through, they realized they loved their neighborhood too much to leave. So instead of starting over somewhere new, they called us.

While we were opening up this living room, we found the original 1920s shiplap hiding under the ceiling. We weren't about to cover that back up!
