Since 2010, Margittai Architects has had the great privilege to work on several projects for The Pittsburgh Golf Club - which was designed by Alden and Harlow Architects and completed in 1896.

Currently, we are under construction for the renovation of the Board Room so that it may also serve as the Jackson Library and a Bridal Suite. The Board Room was a more recent addition to the original structure and lacked the charm and historic tenor that exists in the rest of the Club.

Our hope is that those who visit the Jackson Library in the future will be convinced that it was designed by Alden and Harlow themselves!

Of the several hundreds of projects Margittai Architects as worked on in the past 25 years, the Century Inn restoration was perhaps the most rewarding of them all.

Although technology is changing at a break-neck speed, Peter still prefers to design using a pencil and paper. He was recently working out the Floor Plan for a single-family home tucked into a hillside.

Hand drawing is becoming much less common in the profession, however, we believe there is still a case to be made for keeping it simple!

February 2026 marks 25 YEARS of Margittai Architects designing spaces and places where people can enjoy spending their time – whether at home, at work, or at play!

A great big THANK YOU to all of our clients, contractors, consultants, and others who helped and supported us as we worked on fun and meaningful projects. What a terrific time it has been!

Margittai Architects loves working with clients to repurpose old buildings and give them new uses!

This 100+ year old livery stable in Pittsburgh's historic South Side neighborhood was recently converted into an urban-chic private residence. Thank you P2 Contracting for providing the construction services and SkySight Photography for capturing the spirit of this unique project!

Although Margittai Architects calls it a "Summer Picnic", this annual office outing is never held in the summer and it's NOT a picnic... Instead, the team picks a Pittsburgh neighborhood, and Peter coordinates an Architecture Tour.

This year we picked Lawrenceville Pittsburgh and Andrew Moss, Founding Principal of mossArchitects, was kind enough to show us around his award-winning project located at 5151 Butler Street. The client also participated and provided us with additional insight on this exceptional project!
