Last Saturday at the AIA San Francisco 2026 Marin Home Tours, Liz toured two stellar mid-century residential renovations and moderated engaging discussions with the architects and landscape architect, engaging in thoughtful conversations exploring how these homes and landscapes adapt to contemporary living and everyday life.

These featured homes included a residence originally designed by Henrik Bull and renovated by Feldman Architecture, as well as a home designed by William Wurster and Thomas Church, and later renovated by ELA and MFLA.

Thank you to AIA San Francisco and the homeowners for opening these beautiful spaces to the community.

We always say the ultimate engagement is making it onto the pages of The New York Times.

We’re thrilled to see Massachusetts’ Children’s Museum of Franklin, an adaptive reuse project, recognized in its first year of operation and even more excited to see the impact it is already making, welcoming more than 50,000 visitors in just seven months.

Congratulations to everyone behind this incredible institution whose vision, dedication, and hard work brought it to life.

We’re proud to have been part of creating a place where curiosity, creativity, and community can thrive for years to come.

KR is honored to be part of the team delivering the new San Francisco Fire Department Division of Training campus in Bayview Hunters Point.

Working alongside the SFFD, DLR Group, Obercrombie Planning+Design, DPW’s BOA and BOLA on this important civic investment that will support first responders for generations to come.

Congratulations to all involved on yesterday’s groundbreaking.

Our monthly design discourse got a whole lot more entertaining this week.

Greg took us on a wild (and wonderfully thoughtful) ride through how to survive the apocalypse with good architecture complete with a perfectly timed jump scare.

From resilience to ingenuity, and much humor, it was a reminder that even in the most extreme scenarios, design still matters AND we can all step up to protect the future of our planet.

He is currently putting the book together, it’s underway, so stay tuned!

Yesterday’s design discourse on the work of Sigurd Lewerentz took an unexpected turn.

In the middle of discussing brick, craft, and architectural rigor, we turned the tables on the person who usually orchestrates the office cake surprises.

Liz — our resident cake ambusher — was the one ambushed this time.

Great conversations about architecture are always welcome.
Celebrating Liz (and wishing her a very happy pre-birthday) makes them even better.

From the specs on paper to structure on site, the new SF Rec + Park’s Gene Friend Rec Center is taking shape!

Liz and Eliza toured the progress this week where construction is moving along beautifully!

The new building is now fully waterproof, drywall installation has begun on interior walls, exterior plaster and storefront windows are going in, playground equipment has arrived and installation is underway!

Shout out to our brilliant architects — because behind every great project are great minds… and great specs. Proud to be delivering this project in joint venture with Mark Cavagnero Architects.

Closing out 2025 with our West Coast office—celebrating the holidays, swapping White Elephant gifts, and enjoying a well-designed evening at the Barbarossa Lounge.
As we look to 2026, we’re ready to build on what works, refine what doesn’t, and keep designing with purpose, curiosity, and care. Cheers to what’s next.

Final review complete 🎉

This semester, our principals Liz and Byron served as Esherick Visiting Professors at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design, teaching a studio of sixteen undergraduate seniors. The students brought energy, curiosity, and ambition to every phase of the work, from site and precedent analysis to an early esquisse, and ultimately to bold, thoughtful proposals for the replacement of the intermodal Ferry Terminal at Pier 41 in San Francisco.

Proud of this talented group and the care, creativity, and rigor they brought to the studio all semester.

Félicitations from Paris! 🇫🇷✨

We’re thrilled to share that Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at , delivered through our joint venture with Gensler and in collaboration with Woods Bagot/HKS/KYA, has been awarded Best in Show on ’ World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2025.

Our principals Liz and  Byron are in France this week to celebrate this incredible honor on the global stage.

This recognition reflects the forward-thinking vision behind the terminal: a place that embodies Bay Area values, advances wellness and sustainability, and creates a calm, welcoming journey for every traveler, all while honoring the legacy of Harvey Milk.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners, collaborators, and the entire project team, whose dedication brought this landmark project to life. Together, we’re shaping a new standard for resilient, human-centered airport design.

As we celebrate, we also pause to honor the memory of Frank Gehry, whose visionary imagination reshaped our field. His legacy continues to inspire architects and designers around the world. 🕊️
