Construction is underway on the Western Washington University Student Development & Success Center, a 29,000-square-foot addition at the south end of campus designed as a front door for Western.

Delivered through a progressive design-build approach with BNBuilders, the center brings student services together in one highly visible location, improving access, connection, and clarity for both prospective and current students. A new welcome center will orient visitors to campus and provide a place to meet with students and learn about academic pathways and support resources.

We look forward to sharing more as progress continues!

A new hub for computing, research, and innovation is now open at UC San Diego.

We recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Computer Science & Engineering Data Center, a purpose-built facility designed to support cutting-edge research while giving students access to the real-world infrastructure that powers modern computing. The project creates a flexible, future-ready foundation for discovery across artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, data science, and beyond.

Congratulations to UC San Diego and all of our project partners!

We're honored to share that The American Institute of Architects recognized three of our projects in their AIA Awards.

The Newhouse Replacement Building received an Honor Award in Architecture.

Additionally, the U.S. Embassy Niamey, Niger, and the Health Sciences Education Building at the University of Washington were each recognized in the AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten Awards for their excellence in sustainability.

Thank you to the jury and AIA for this recognition, and congratulations to our clients, partners, and team for bringing these projects to life!

Celebrating the Grand Reveal of the C Concourse Expansion at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)!

Today marks an exciting milestone for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the Port of Seattle, and the entire project team as the C Concourse Expansion prepares to open to travelers. Designed by The Miller Hull Partnership and Woods Bagot in collaboration with the Port of Seattle as part of the Upgrade SEA program, the project reimagines the passenger experience through light-filled spaces, intuitive wayfinding, and stronger connections to the Pacific Northwest. The existing concourse is significantly expanded—from 81,000 to 229,500 square feet—with four new levels added above the original structure. Guided by the concept “Bringing In, Seeing Out,” the design creates new opportunities to gather, pause, and orient, from the Grand Stair and Tree at C to the Lookout at C, SEA’s first airside outdoor space.

The expansion also introduces new amenities, dining and retail destinations, and community-focused spaces while advancing the Port's sustainability goals through an all-electric design, rooftop solar array, and a project targeting LEED Platinum certification.

Congratulations to the Port of Seattle and everyone who helped bring this ambitious project to life. We're excited for millions of travelers to experience the next chapter of SEA.

Seattle is an extraordinary place to practice architecture, and we’re honored to be among the city’s top 30 firms as ranked by Architizer.

The Pacific Northwest has long shaped our work—not only through its remarkable landscapes, but through a culture that values environmental stewardship, innovation, and design excellence. We're fortunate to practice in a region where sustainability and regenerative thinking are embraced by our clients, communities, and project partners, continually challenging us to create places that are deeply connected to their surroundings.

Congratulations to all of the firms recognized this year! We're in great company.

Central Library at Stevens Ranch is now open!

More than a place for books, the library is designed as a shared resource for learning, making, and gathering, welcoming students, families, and creators of all kinds. With spaces that encourage curiosity and connection, it reflects a broader vision for what a library can be today.

Congratulations to our client, Deschutes County! We love seeing the community explore the space and make it their own.

In a new Port of Seattle blog, Miller Hull Principal Rich Whealan and Woods Bagot Project Leader Billy Schreiber share the design thinking behind the new C Concourse Expansion at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The story explores how the team looked beyond traditional airport design, drawing inspiration from regional landscapes, public gathering spaces, natural light, and local materials to create a place that feels connected to Seattle from the moment travelers arrive.

As Rich notes: “From the start, we set out to create a place that felt unmistakably Seattle — a space where travelers could feel the culture, the craft, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest the moment they stepped inside.”

Thank you to the Port of Seattle for highlighting the vision, collaboration, and sustainability strategies that helped shape this transformative project.

is a moment to reflect on our shared responsibility to the natural world.

The building industry accounts for nearly 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions. While progress is underway, there is still significant work ahead to reduce the impact of how we design and construct buildings. As architects, that responsibility extends beyond setting goals—it includes holding ourselves accountable to consistently meet and exceed them across all of our work.

We recently asked our EcoOps team what opportunities they see to help push the industry forward. Their reflections point to a continued focus on regenerative design, more transparent and rigorous ways of measuring environmental impact, and a deeper understanding of how buildings affect climate, water, materials, and ecosystems. Equally important is the need to share lessons learned so the industry can move forward more quickly, together.

Thank you to the UN Environment Programme for convening this global conversation around the urgency and importance of collective action.

Next week, Tahmina Arjona, Kristina Hoang, and Sofia Burlo will attend NeoCon on behalf of our interiors team.

They’ll join industry leaders in Chicago to explore new products, materials, and ideas shaping the future of interior environments. With a focus on the learning, gathering, and study spaces we design for colleges, universities, and libraries, the team is especially looking forward to discovering innovations that can enhance these environments in meaningful ways. From shaping spatial experiences to selecting final finishes, we believe furniture completes the design story—and NeoCon is an opportunity to find the pieces that bring our design visions full circle.

Excited for the conversations, inspiration, and connections ahead. See you in Chicago!
