Taking inspiration from old-world craftsmanship, we used mitered shingles on the corners of this traditional Cape Code home. Not only do they elevate the architecture, they also have huge weather barrier benefits due to their tighter seal and unexposed shingle edges.

To bring a softness into this contemporary build, we used a parge coat over the concrete walls to make it feel less industrial and more inviting. In this case, the parge coating is a thin layer of cement which fills the voids and uneven textures on the concrete wall resulting in a smooth, refined look.

When we design a home, every decision is made with intention. For this lakeside home, we chose to use top cast concrete to extend the elevated feel of the home into the landscape surrounding it. Top cast concrete delivers a modern, textured, and slip-resistant finish, achieved by washing away the top layer to reveal the sand and stones underneath.
