Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in the United States on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate Black resilience, culture, and achievements, and continue the work of creating communities where everyone can thrive.

At Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, we believe gardens are places of learning, connection, reflection, and belonging. We are grateful for the opportunity to share this space with a diverse community and to continue cultivating a welcoming environment for all.
