What weird flowers!

Check out Trochodendron aralioides - Wheel Tree!
This broadleaf evergreen tree native to Japan, Taiwan, and Korea is in bloom with small chartreuse flowers lacking petals, from which it gets the common name!

The specimen growing at the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden is right along our main entrance way, arching over the bulletin board.

With such small flowers on a tall tree it’s easy to miss, but worth a second look for this unique plant!

Our big Mother’s Day event may be over, but we’ve always got lots of awesome native and ornamental plants to help make your yard awesome!

New arrivals this week: Bunchberry, Oxalis, Kinnickinnick, Ornamental Sage (in various colors!), Columbine, and lots more!
As always we’ve also got an awesome selection of native perennials, shrubs, trees, ferns, and rare specimens propagated from the garden’s collection!

Learn a new technique to grown your own plants with our Cuttings Propagation Workshop!

Learn the artful skill of propagating plants by cuttings. Creating more plants by vegetative reproduction is a rewarding and fun hobby you can easily add to your gardening tool belt. In this class taught by one of our own Staff Horticulturists, Heidi Koonz, at the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, we will teach you how to identify healthy cutting materials, how to process them, and aftercare. Participants will go home with a small collection of plant propagules to grow on, or gift to others. Additional resources will be highlighted, or be available for purchase.
