Earlier tonight, this team went to the aid of a motorist who had broken down on the N7 Richwood. The RNW CCTV operator picked up 3/4 suspects who were earlier in the evening involved in robbing people going home. As he was calling for backup, the suspects emerged from the shadows and homed in on the motorist. Thankfully, the motorist saw them and ran - and he ran fast. The suspects then opened the bonnet to steal the battery, but realized that this team of fearless guardians from the RNW and Precinct Response were heading their way. SAPS Bothasig arrived shortly afterwards. The suspects ran off and disappeared amongst the shadows of the shacks. A flatbed was called, and these members stayed with the motorist until the vehicle was loaded and moved off. Thanks to all RNW members, Neal de Wit, and his Precinct Response team, as well as SAPS. We urge motorists to be vigilant on that stretch of road, especially if they break down.

Earlier tonight, a call for assistance was shared on a crime information group regarding two unknown individuals spotted jumping a wall. With the help of community CCTV footage, a description was quickly circulated, allowing responders to act fast.

The suspects were successfully located, detained, and handed over to SAPS.

This is what strong partnerships between the community, first responders, and Precinct Response look like. Together, we are making our neighborhoods safer every day. 🤝

COMMUNITY TEAMWORK LEADS TO SUCCESSFUL APPREHENSION IN EDGEMEAD 🚨👏

Whilst on duty, Precinct Response owner Neal de Wit noticed a call for assistance regarding a wall jumper reported in Edgemead. Without hesitation, a Precinct Response officer was immediately dispatched to the area while continuously monitoring and filtering feedback as the situation unfolded.

A detailed description of the suspect was swiftly circulated across community communication groups, thanks to the vigilance of local residents and the strong partnership with the Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch.

It was soon confirmed that the suspect had been captured on community CCTV cameras entering a property. A witness further reported seeing the individual kick in a back door in an apparent attempt to gain unlawful entry.

Although the suspect initially evaded detection, the coordinated efforts of the community remained unwavering. A short while later, the suspect was spotted in the vicinity of Bothasig Mall. Acting quickly and demonstrating exceptional commitment to community safety, Precinct Response owner Neal de Wit personally responded to assist in locating the suspect.

Through decisive action and effective teamwork between Precinct Response, vigilant residents, and the Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch, the suspect was successfully located, apprehended, and handed over to Bothasig SAPS for further processing.

A criminal case has been officially opened.

This incident once again highlights the power of community vigilance, rapid response, and strong partnerships in keeping our neighborhoods safe.

🚨 FRIDAY THE 13TH. THEY CAME WITH A GUN. WE CAME WITH A RESPONSE. 🚨

This morning an innocent man, on his way to work to earn an honest living, was targeted by two armed criminals. They attempted to rob him of his belongings.

When they didn’t get what they wanted fast enough, they opened fire — shooting him three times in the hand before fleeing on foot.

This is the reality on our streets.
Criminals are bold.
Criminals are armed.
Criminals do not hesitate.

And neither do we.

🌹 February is the Month of Love, but... there’s a time and a place! 🌹
This week, the Precinct Response team received a call regarding two individuals who had set up a "bed for the night" a bit early in Camoens Park, Monte Vista. 🧺🌳
While we love to see the spirit of Valentine’s Day in the air, Camonse Park is a family-friendly space where children and residents come to enjoy the outdoors. Our officers arrived to find the pair getting a head start on their celebrations under a blanket. 🤭❤️
Our team stepped in to kindly remind them that public parks are shared spaces for everyone to feel comfortable. We’re happy to report that they were very cooperative (though perhaps a little red-faced!) and swiftly moved along to find a more private setting. 🚗💨

🚨 A Close Call — and a Great Example of Teamwork 🚨

This week one of our Precinct Response officers experienced a serious situation while carrying out his duties.

After approaching an individual who had previously been removed from a client’s premises for causing disturbances, the suspect produced a knife and threatened the officer. Thanks to the quick thinking of our member and the presence of a nearby SAPS patrol, assistance was immediately flagged down. The suspect attempted to flee but Bothasig SAPS responded swiftly and gave chase.

Outcome: Precinct Response & Bothasig SAPS – 1 | Suspect – 0

The suspect was successfully detained by Bothasig SAPS and a case has been opened.

We are proud of our officer for remaining calm under pressure and grateful for the rapid support from SAPS. Incidents like these remind us why professionalism, training, and strong partnerships matter.
