🌍 World Environment Day 🌿

The places we create today shape the environment we leave for future generations.

At Iglu Studio, we believe great landscape architecture goes beyond aesthetics. By integrating nature-based solutions, enhancing biodiversity, improving climate resilience and creating spaces that connect people with the natural world, we help deliver places where both communities and ecosystems can thrive.

From restoring waterways and creating green corridors to designing sustainable public spaces, every project is an opportunity to make a positive environmental impact.

This World Environment Day, we're celebrating the power of thoughtful design to create healthier, greener and more resilient places for people and nature. 🌱

Creating vibrant, inclusive and well-connected places is at the heart of our urban design and public realm work.

At Iglu Studio, we collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to transform town centres, streets and civic spaces into places that encourage social interaction, cultural activity and long-term regeneration.

From projects like Dunfermline City Square to the Bridlington Feasibility Study, our work focuses on strengthening connections, improving public spaces and shaping places people want to spend time in.

Our masterplanning work brings together landscape, movement, infrastructure and placemaking to create clear frameworks for long-term growth and sustainable communities.

At Iglu Studio, we develop strategic masterplans for residential, mixed-use and landscape-led developments that respond to both place and people.

Projects including the Staneyhill Masterplan in Lerwick and the River Park Masterplan in Fife demonstrate our experience working across complex sites and large-scale development projects.

Thoughtful landscape design is often found in the details 💧🌱

At the Knocknagael Green Hub project, practical sustainability was embedded into the design of the allotment spaces through an integrated water network that ensures access to water is always within easy reach.

The scheme includes standpipes, mains-fed water butts and encourages individual rainwater harvesting and composting, helping support more self-sufficient, environmentally conscious growing spaces for the community.

By combining sustainable infrastructure with community-focused design, projects like this help create resilient landscapes that are built for long-term use and stewardship.

The International Day for Biological Diversity is a reminder that landscapes play a vital role in supporting ecological diversity 🌱

Whether through native hedgerows, rain gardens, tree planting or multifunctional green spaces, integrating biodiversity into the built environment helps create places that are both resilient and enriching.

Good landscape design works with nature, not against it.

At Iglu Studio, we design active travel networks and infrastructure that make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle safely through their communities and surrounding landscapes 🚶‍♀️🚴

Our approach prioritises accessibility, connectivity and integration with the environment, helping create healthier, more sustainable and better-connected places.

Projects such as the River Park Routes in Fife and the Dunbar NCN Realignment demonstrate our experience delivering active travel infrastructure at both local and regional scales.

At Iglu Studio, we believe great landscape architecture is about creating spaces that are functional, sustainable and meaningful for the people who use them.

From masterplanning and public realm design to biodiversity-led landscapes and community spaces, our work is rooted in thoughtful, collaborative design that responds to both place and environment.

Whether it’s a large-scale regeneration project or a carefully considered green space, we work closely with clients to deliver landscapes with long-term impact.

Spring is when landscapes truly come to life 🌿

Longer days, emerging biodiversity and renewed use of outdoor spaces make this one of our favourite times of year to revisit projects and see how they evolve through the seasons.

Thoughtful landscape design isn’t just about how a place looks on day one - it’s about how it grows, adapts and supports both people and nature over time.

At Knocknagael Green Hub, the edges are just as important as the allotments themselves 🌿

A carefully curated native hedgerow frames the growing spaces - designed not just to define boundaries, but to actively support the ecosystem. Species have been selected for their resilience to the local climate, while providing vital food sources and habitats for wildlife and pollinators.

From the delicate spring blossom of crab apple (Malus sylvestris) and bird cherry (Prunus avium), to the seasonal colour and fruits of dog rose (Rosa canina), every element plays a role. Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus) and dogwood (Cornus sanguinea) bring year-round interest, ensuring the landscape continues to evolve through the seasons.

A productive landscape, designed to give back 🌱

What makes a great place? For us, it starts with people.

At Iglu Studio, every project begins with understanding how spaces are used, valued and experienced, because great design isn’t just about how a place looks, but how it works.

From schools to public spaces, we create environments that bring communities together and stand the test of time.
