Team DGDG putting in a little more volunteer work for the City of Asheville and the greater Western North Carolina disc golf community. Today we replaced tee signs on holes 2 and 6 at Aston Park in downtown Asheville and also worked to better identify the tee markers throughout the course.

If you have not played this super sweet practice course yet, you ought to give it a try. The main course map is located at the tennis center, and each hole has its own tee sign to help guide the way. Great little spot to work on your game right in the heart of Asheville.

Another great maintenance and tune-up day at Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary in Cherokee!

We cleaned up a few downed trees and did LOTS of string trimming. We’ll be out again soon to trim holes 7-11. Please be patient as we continue to work on new course signage. We picked up some litter (there was very little).

We met some nice folks from Indiana who said, “We are trying to play the 10 best courses in North Carolina.”

The course is in great shape. Come play this hidden gem when you get a chance!

Another great week on the road for the DGDG team making the rounds across North Carolina and South Carolina visiting four different disc golf design projects.

First stop was in Forsyth County at the legendary Tanglewood Park, where we continue working on what is shaping up to be an epic destination course. From there, I completed a site visit with a small church exploring ways to better utilize their property for recreation, walking, and fun community activities.

Next, I made my way to Orange County and had the pleasure of staying with Rich Money at High Meadow Farms just north of Hillsborough. What an incredible private course and property. After spending time at High Meadow, I headed over to Blackwood Farm to continue work on another exciting design project that is slowly coming along.

The trip wrapped up down on the South Carolina coast where we are honored to be working on our second project with Charleston County at a hidden gem of a park in Mount Pleasant. Big shot out to the crew at Find the Line for all their help and collaboration on this project.

Exciting things are taking shape across both states, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help communities, parks, churches, and private properties bring the game of disc golf to life. Stay tuned for more updates from team DGDG.

Another great maintenance and tune-up day at Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary in Cherokee!

We cleaned up a few downed trees, including several near the long pin on #8. It was great to see folks out for the rotating league enjoying the gorgeous weather.

The course is in pristine condition. Come play this hidden gem when you get a chance!

Yesterday I had the privilege of representing Team DGDG at the Tennessee Hall of Fame Classic at the spectacular Harmon Hills Disc Golf Course in Fall Branch, Tennessee.

It was a true honor to attend the inductee ceremony and celebrate five disc golf legends entering the Tennessee Disc Golf Hall of Fame:

Jake Nye
Ed and Kim Burde
Steve Hardie
John Whinery

These five fine folks have poured thousands of hours into the game and into their communities to help create and sustain some truly outstanding places to play disc golf throughout Tennessee.

From Seven Oaks and Cedars of Lebanon in Nashville, to The Sinks in Chattanooga, to Burde Ridge in Woodbury, to Fossil Hill in Fall Branch, which helped pave the way for Harmon Hills, their influence has been deep and lasting. Their efforts have impacted the lives of countless players from Tennessee and far beyond.

On behalf of all of us at Team DGDG, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the energy, commitment, and labor of love each of you has given to this sport over the years.

And to anybody reading this, I encourage you to embody the spirit of these Tennessee Hall of Famers and disc golf legends by dedicating some of your time and energy this year, and in the years to come, to the betterment of disc golf in your own community.

Another magical day at Fire Mountain DGS in Cherokee. We got the course looking sweet once again by moving everything that fell in the fairway. We also moved the majority of baskets and found the new short red baskets super fun to play. Make the trip, birdies await in this sanctuary.

It is that time of year to get your Mardi Gras Groove on and help us spread the love of Disc Golf in the annual downtown Asheville Mardi Gras parade. The theme this year is Live Life like a Carnival.

Please join us on Southside Avenue at 2:15 next Sunday 2/15 to walk in the parade and help represent Disc Golf. We have plenty of disc golf stuff to give out to the massive crowd that will be present thanks to Innova, MVP, Discraft, DGA and the WNCDGA.

Please contact Pickens this week if you have any Carnival themed props to help the Disc Golf float shine or if you want to help in the decoration.
