It has been a wonderfully busy time in the studio this week❤️
Its been too long since ive just focused on painting. Artists who have pop up shops know😅
This week i set a little goal to make 6 paintings, if i met the goal cool- but i wasnt going to force it. I also wanted to try to make each painting a little different. Different subject matter, incorporate some colored pencils, ink, and these really fun acrylic gouache paints i treated myself to recently. Im really in love with how all of these turned out, AND i met my goal! Two paintings were finished yesterday that i have yet to photograph but to no surprise theyre both birds:) photos coming soon!
All of these paintings will be available tomorrow at the German Village Farmers Market ! I know theres a silly sports ball game and maybe a little rain, but the market is one of my favorite places in the city and yall will definitely be missing out if you dont stop by🖤

Also, regarding my online shop- my shop will be off until roughly tuesday of next week. Ill be going through inventory and updating all of the listings. A mandatory photo of me✨
I tend to avoid taking my photo these days, i wish i was better at it😅
Even when i was a small child my parents had to fight to take my photo, i guess some things never change🤷
Im still in shock that ive managed to paint a mural so large, and im so proud of myself for completing it. Saying i was intimidated is an understatement. But we will never know what we can achieve if we dont try🖤
Roughly 30 hours, five different paint brushes, about a million mosquito bites, 8 jugs of paint, one silly meltdown, and a hell of a lot of spite- its done✨

The absolutely beautiful blue grosbeak❤️
Im going to be honest, i had no idea there was such thing. For the last few years as a birder i have hoped to come across the lovely rose breasted grosbeak (i have yet to lay my eyes on one) and i truly never thought id get lucky enough to see a grosbeak that isnt usually common in my area. I am forever grateful to the lovely Matt and Christie for sharing their photographs of the amazing birds spotted in our area, ofherwise i might have missed him! My partner and i spent an hour watching him and his mate bounce around a meadow together. It was darling 🖤
Of course i HAD to paint this gorgeous bird🥹

A little project ive had in my head for months now. I came across this little deer figurine last year. It was so cute and had so much potential:) after taking some time to repaint, and clean up it sat on a shelf in my studio for a year waiting to be used😅
Finally i had some time to get back to my curio shadowbox making!
"My Deerest friend in the garden"
Found object, home grown and found florals adorned with a print if my newest landscape painting.
I adore him, and it makes me wish i could be one of those people totally inconvenienced by deer in the garden😭 the jealously is real

For a while now i have been working on learning the ropes of landscape painting. Particularly the dusty, kind of dark moody landscapes that focus on open fields and trees. I think maybe my deep love for ohio farmland where I grew up is showing🖤
Im also still working on trying to make goauche work like or at least look like the oil paintings i admire so much. I feel like im getting closer:)) and the biggest thing ive learned while working in these landscapes is- less is more?? Im always trying to add too much detail but really, your shapes, shadows, and highlights should be doing all of the work for you. I love that even after almost 10 years of painting im still learning. Changing my methods, experimenting with materials and imagery. I finally feel like im becoming the painter ive always wanted to be🥹
With all of that said, im obsessed with this painting. Im so proud of myself and this piece feels so dear to my heart. Im definitely going to be a little sad when it finds a home, but that just means i can make more landscapes like it🖤

Good morning friends✨My shared shop Undergroundlost&found and myself have some extra pop up events coming up!
Next week ill be setting up solo at the Westerville fourth friday festival:) fingers crossed its rain free this time✨
Also my partner and i with our shop Undergroundlost&found will be setting up at the bexley summerfest for the second year in a row! We are so excited to be back:) and as always we will be at the lovely German Village Farmers Market every saturday. Come see us friends!
