Awkward circulation. Wasted square footage. Storage where you don't need it and none where you do.

Some design decisions can haunt a home for years.

A home feels different when it’s full.

The kitchen gets busier. Conversations move from room to room. Someone steps outside. Kids find their own space. And somehow, everyone still seems to end up around the island.

Designing for entertaining is about considering how people will move, where they’ll naturally gather, and how different areas of the home can work together when family and friends arrive. And in this case, making it easier to be together.

Good design is more than what you see.

Different homes. Different priorities. Different possibilities.

We’re pleased to welcome John Girimonti to the Residential Designed Solutions team!

Drawn to RDS for the opportunity to grow as a designer and gain hands-on experience in residential design, John is excited to work alongside the team and see projects develop from an initial idea to a finished home.

What he enjoys most about residential design is the personal nature of the work. As he puts it, “Every project is completely different because the definition of home and what makes home is different to every homeowner.”

We’re excited to have his perspective, creativity, and enthusiasm on the team and look forward to seeing what he brings to the projects ahead.

And outside the office? You’ll likely find him following Pittsburgh sports, playing in a recreational league, or at the gym. So excited to have you, John!

A beautiful bathroom is easy to see. A well-designed one is something you experience every day.

Three awards. Two projects. Countless details that brought them to life.

From the way a completed home supports everyday living to the detailed drawings that help make a complex design possible to build, these awards recognize different sides of residential design and the work that happens at every stage.

We’re grateful to the clients, builders, and industry partners who help turn these ideas into homes.

A home can have plenty of square footage and still feel like it isn't quite working.

Sometimes, the opportunity isn't adding more space. It's seeing the space you already have differently.

When designing this kitchen renovation, we had the opportunity to rethink how several spaces worked together. For these homeowners, reconfiguring the layout to combine an underused sitting area and informal dining space, created a more open, connected, and organic flow better suited for everyday life.
