Design as a mirror; architecture as a breath.

The Aspen Club villas are conceived as living ecosystems where tactile textures, natural light, and organic form deepen the connection between dweller and dwelling, dissolving the line between home, landscape, and experience.

Not a fixture, but a moment.

The Dapple Light series begins with the geometry of dappled light, where brightness and shadow drift across a surface like sunlight through a canopy. A concealed linear LED set within a thin bronze frame washes inward, fading from sharp to diffuse at the edges.

Encased in a rounded, subtly vegetal bioresin shell, each piece feels less fabricated than formed. Something grown, suspended between structure and nature.

Objects shape the emotional core of a space. Take the Frank chair: a study in balance, lightness, and heft.

With a fine brass frame, three legs, and a quietly working curved strut, it carries two simple upholstered circles. The minimalist back playfully contrasts with the generous seat, making it feel less like it was designed and more like it was discovered.

At INC, the line between architecture and object fades. Furnishings become architectural actors, turning a simple seat into an expression of intimacy and spatial rhythm.

Utility, refined.

The Brooklyn Plumbing Fixtures began as a specific need for 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, drawing on the raw, industrial language of gate valves. But in our studio, a faucet is never just a faucet; it’s a node connected to the heart of the project.

We believe every detail is a site of revelation. By thinking at every scale simultaneously, we turn the humble mechanics of a pewter tap into an expression of thought and care.

Sensuous. Tactile. Intentional. From the facade to the fixture, it’s all one choreography.

INC didn’t begin with a business plan.

It began as a critique.
Of authorship.
Of delivery.
Of the idea that design arrives finished.

From the outset, the studio imagined itself not as a site of production, but as a culture in formation.

Reflecting on 20 years of architecture, design, and what it means to be “independent.”

INC is incredibly proud to see Adam Rolston included in PIN–UP 40: The Independence Issue. To mark two decades of independent publishing, PIN–UP has released a historic panorama of over 60 New York architects, captured by .creighton. Seeing Adam among such esteemed peers marks a moment that once felt far beyond the horizon in INC’s early days.

When Adam, Drew, and Gabe founded INC twenty years ago, they deliberately chose a generic name to create a neutral framework, INC. The goal was to create a platform that wasn’t about a single name on the door but a collective framework where each partner and team member could contribute, grow, and find a path to shine. While this recognition centers Adam, it also reflects the care, ambition, and generosity built by the larger team over the last two decades.

2004 was a formative year all around. While Adam, Drew, and Gabe were debating company names in a bar, Felix Burrichter was launching a magazine. To see both twenty-year experiments still thriving feels especially meaningful.

To see more of the work and philosophy that shaped these two decades, keep an eye out for the INC monograph, Us is More, arriving later this year. A special thank you to Felix for his brilliant contribution to the book. It feels like a fitting full-circle moment for this anniversary year.

Congratulations to and the team at on twenty years of keeping the conversation alive.

Forged in the spirit of camaraderie, INC is honored to be featured in a recent firm profile by .

Writer Alia Akkam traces the studio’s evolution from its early days following 2001 to its official launch in 2006. What began as a foundation of shared meals and support between Adam Rolston, Drew Stuart, and Gabriel Benroth has grown into a practice defined by collective growth and environmental responsibility.

The piece offers an in-depth breakdown of three recent projects charting the range of hospitality: Manifest, Super Peach, and Atlas Hotel. From achieving Climate Neutral Certification to the addition of partners Hilary Kroll and Tyler Kleck, the profile captures how INC has matured and continues to push the boundaries of design.

NYRA’s 50th issue and first-ever Guide to New York City is here. Honored to see Adam Rolston featured among an incredible group of contributors including James Wines, Paul Goldberger, Sarah Schulman, Justin Davidson, Lucy Sante, and many more.

Adam’s contribution, Two Rooms and a Cage, reflects on the civic architecture of New York’s pickup basketball courts, from Dyckman Park to Rucker Park to “the Cage,” as spaces of performance, community, and collective life.

“Without bodies, they are inert asphalt; with bodies, they become theater, parliament, and festival.”

Congratulations to the editors and contributors behind this milestone issue and guide from the New York Review of Architecture.

The textures of Treadwell.

At the Facades+ Conference this Friday, March 27, we’ll explore The Treadwell: Facade Design, Materiality, and Community. From fluted limestone-colored terracotta to layered bronze bands, every material and detail was carefully chosen to balance craft, context, and modern expression.

Join us at New York Law School to see how facade design shapes identity, place, and experience through real-world insights from design, construction, and development leaders.
