Oh, how time flies!

It feels like just yesterday that these talented team members first joined HDG Architects. Four, five, ten, and sixteen years later, each has become an integral part of the firm. We’re grateful for the experience and expertise they bring to HDG and for the many contributions they’ve made throughout the years. The years ahead are sure to bring even more opportunities and growth.

Our intern, Maya Ripley, finished her final day at HDG Architects yesterday, bringing her summer with us to a close.

Maya quickly became a valued part of the HDG team. Her hard work and contributions made a lasting impact during her time in the office. We’ve enjoyed having her with us this summer and are grateful for everything she brought to the team.

We wish Maya the best of luck as she heads back to school and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next!

The first half of 2026 has been a total team effort by Plum Borough School District, HDG, Eckles Construction Services and the Prime Contractors at O’Block Elementary and Plum Middle School to finish work in time for the start of the new school year.

At O’Block, the completion of the new addition allowed for teachers and students to immediately move into their new space while creating the ability to continue full renovations of the existing facilities throughout the upcoming school year. At the Middle School, students will be greeted with a new, contemporary, and secure front entrance to the building, updated gymnasium, and a new welcoming administrative office. Final touch ups at the Middle School and phased construction at O’Block will continue safely into the new school year.

At HDG, we believe strong teams are built both in and out of the office. 🎢

Our staff and their families spent a (mostly) sunny, fun-filled day at Kennywood last week, strengthening our team bond even more through the ups and downs of rollercoasters and tasty ice cream.

Our HDG team may have been small, but they were mighty at this year's Pittsburgh Corporate Fun Run!

A huge congratulations to Lydia, who crossed the finish line as the 1st Place Female Finisher and a shoutout to Rob and Sam for earning spots in the Top 10 Overall – an incredible accomplishment! We're proud of our team for representing HDG with determination, teamwork, and a little friendly competition. Way to go!

We are excited to share that Leslie Gonzalez Madrid recently completed the 2025-2026 Leadership Institute Program hosted by the AIA Pittsburgh Architecture Foundation! Leslie joined a cohort of emerging professionals in a series of leadership workshops focused on communication, collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement.

Through a partnership with Hazelwood Initiative, Inc.lwood Initiative, Inc., the experience highlighted the importance of leadership in architecture beyond the built environment – emphasizing listening, relationship building, and meaningful community impact through collaboration
