My buddy Josh took this amazing photo of this spider post-catch of a fly on a perfectly ripe Celeste fig. I had to share it. How cool is this fig picture! It has all the David Attenborough and Steve Irwin vibes of watching wildlife exist right here on a ripe fig.

Hey Fig Fam, I did this one a few weeks ago but had to share - this fig is a small and beautiful fig that you could sprinkle a bunch across a salad. Nerucciolo D’Elba he’s a tasty Fig from a small little island called Elba. It’s a young tree, but fruits at a young age and I’m excited for it for years to come.

Hey Fig Fam, this is a new fake ride for me. I picked this about two weeks ago. I wanted to share it with you guys. It is a delicious Adriatic type Fig that has a nice acidic bite that has flavors of strawberry in the pulp and a thicker skin. Highly recommend as the flavor of the pulp was delicious.

Hey Fig Fam! We have a cold hardy green fig that can reportedly handle very cold temperatures and it ripens a beautiful and delicious green fig with red pulp! Very impressed with the flavor of this figs as it ripened so late in the season, but the jammy interior was delicious!

Colder climate gardeners take note!

Black Celeste Fig - I have a feeling this week is gonna be very popular for a very long time. This one that I had today shows that it is an ever-bearing variety ripening throughout the year, it has bright berry flavors and grows just like a Celeste, doing exceptionally well in wet and humid conditions. I’m so excited for this Fig for years to come. Have you guys tried this Fig before? Let me know your thoughts.

Hey Fig Fam, we have Simpson which was discovered in Pinehurst, NC by my buddy Miles at Milesfig on YouTube. He’s a great fig grower and found a beautiful, Jammy, Adriatic fig meaning it has green skin and dark red pulp. And this fig has a great breba crop and a wonderful main crop, which is a rarity here in North Carolina! Very impressed and I’m excited to see what the figs taste like on a mature tree!

What is a fig? It’s not just a fruit, but in fact a collection of galls with flowers on them that produce a single fruit. All of these galls add up to hundreds of fruits all enclosed in a syconium that encapsulates them into the beautiful structure that is the fig! There is no pit like stone fruits nor is there a core like apples and pears. There are seeds yet they are small and provide a tasty crunch when consumed! In fact there are even some varieties of fig that are seedless! A fig has such a unique structure and is a stunning marvel of nature.

It’s hard to beat the flavor and health of a ripe fresh fig. Col de Dame figs ripen for me during the month of October (sometimes earlier and sometimes later).

The experience of eating a fresh fig is a marvels en I truly believe that if you’re to grow one type of fruit tree in your garden space, make it a fig tree! They ripen early and do not need pollination from another tree!
