Construction has just kicked off at the Mona House!
We took a minimalistic approach in the design of this house, creating sleek and contemporary volumes with a beautiful material palette of dark stained cedar and concrete panel cladding.
The backyard features an outdoor barbeque area that seamlessly integrates with the living, kitchen and dining, providing a vantage point for views across Bremner Ridge along Michael Bosher Way.

Flat Bush School Road Development

The extension of Whakatupu Road is nearing completion as part of our Flat Bush School Road Development. Working alongside *Panuku Development, Shape Architects completed the masterplanning and architectural design of 39 Homestar 6 terraces on this beautiful section overlooking Murphys Bush Reserve. Construction will soon commence in August, and we look forward to the completed build in the first half of 2024.

Our first round of Resource Consent approvals under the new MDRS standards have just been issued!

The Marendellas development is a 3 lot subdivision located in Bucklands Beach which utilizes the new Medium Density Residential Standards (MDRS) provisions under Plan Change 78.

The new provisions allow for the site to be developed with a 50% Building coverage, up from the allowable 40% under the standard Auckland Unitary Plan Mixed Housing Suburban guidelines.

This increase allows each house to achieve a floor area of 190m2 with 5.5 bedrooms, more generous living spaces and great indoor outdoor flow. Compared to the current AUP standards which would limit each lot to 160m2, this is a significant increase in floor area, resulting in greater investment return as well as a more comfortable home for future owners.

Construction is commencing soon for these 8 standalone 160m2 dwellings designed as part of our Remuera development! ⚒️

Located within the heart of Remuera, the Grand Drive development introduces 8 stunning standalone homes built on two combined sections totaling 1500m2. The site is a minute's walk from Waiatarua Reserve for those who enjoy a scenic walk, or a three minute drive from the Remuera Golf Club.

The homes are designed to accommodate the ever-changing needs of a modern kiwi family. They feature an open plan living/dining/kitchen arrangement linked directly to spacious north facing outdoor courtyards through large floor to ceiling glazing that stack away to create a seamless indoor outdoor flow which extends each space. The kitchen and island dimensions are exceptionally large in comparison to standard developments of this size to accommodate guests and entertaining. Full length storage comes built in along the back wall of the garage and under the stairs to futureproof the practicality of these homes.

Upstairs, a full sized Master Bedroom equipped with a large walk in wardrobe and private ensuite ensures there are no compromises for the owner’s living quarters. Two additional bedrooms share a common bath whilst a smaller flexi-room can be utilized as either a single bedroom, home office or reading room. The architectural design is sculpted by layering a palette of neutral textures with articulated proportions to create a minimal yet elegant aesthetic. The double height artisanal brick is a custom order with unique elongated proportions sourced from Canterbury, it will feature a white mortar wash over to add texture and layering to the surface. The clean, dark colors of the paneling and cedar help offset the brick to bring about a very comforting and contemporary finish.

'Mona House'

Mona House sits on a slim but lengthy lifestyle section elevated upon a hilltop overlooking the Tuscany Estate Valley. The minimalist house was designed with contemporary geometry in mind, paired with a very sleek material palette of dark stained cedar and concrete panel cladding. It forms an expanse along the horizontal plane with seamless integration between living spaces and surroundings.

Guided by the length of the long section and floor plan, we decided to cut open a ‘pocket courtyard’ in the center of the house to act as an intermediary space that allows light and greenery to filter through into the interior. The main hall and a central floating stairway leading towards the upstairs bedrooms are positioned alongside this courtyard so that all the circulatory pathways of the home revolve around this pivotal space.

Full height sliding joinery on the other side of the living creates a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, and opens out onto an outdoor barbeque area which provides vantage points featuring the views of the hills and valleys beyond.
