Emma Willard School’s Alice Dodge Wallace ’38 Center for the Performing Arts has been selected as a Special Mention in the Architizer A+Awards for the Architecture +Context Category!

The Architizer A+Awards is the largest awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture. Its mission is to nurture the appreciation of meaningful design in the world and champion its potential for a positive impact on everyday life.

The Wallace Center places dance, theater, music, and community at the heart of the Emma Willard School campus, repurposing a 1910 chapel as a multipurpose theater and adding a new arts wing, set into the landscape, with dance, studio, and orchestra rehearsal spaces. Founded in 1814, Emma Willard School in Troy, New York is a national leader in education for young women. Emma Willard has a long commitment to the arts as common ground. This center offers every student and faculty member a chance to participate, to assemble, and to connect.

Thank you to Architizer for this exciting recognition!

As Shelburne Museum prepares to open for the season on May 9th, construction continues to move forward on the new Perry Center for Native American Art— a transformative project dedicated to the stewardship, exhibition, and celebration of Indigenous creative culture.

Designed in collaboration with Two Row Architect and Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architecture, the building and surrounding landscape draw inspiration from traditional Native American structures and relationships to the land. Throughout the design process, the project team has worked closely with representatives from Vermont’s four Abenaki Bands, as well as Indigenous scholars, Tribal members, and culture bearers from across the country through a series of pre-design Talking Circles that continue to inform the work today.

We are proud to share that Phillips Academy in Andover has received a 2026 Paul & Niki Tsongas Award from Preservation Massachusetts for the recent renovation of Graves Hall! This highest honor from Preservation Massachusetts recognizes people and projects that have displayed outstanding commitment to historic preservation in the Commonwealth.

Graves Hall has served the Academy for nearly a century and a half, supporting evolving academic and administrative needs while maintaining its architectural character. This renovation and adaptive reuse reflects Phillips Academy’s commitment to stewardship, ensuring that Graves Hall continues to serve the institution’s mission well into the future.

Working with construction manager BW Kennedy & Co., Annum’s design repositions the building as a centralized administrative hub, balancing contemporary operational requirements with the careful preservation of character‑defining features. Through architectural restoration, sensitive spatial adaptation, and comprehensive systems upgrades, the project honors the building’s layered history while enabling its next chapter as an integral part of campus life.

We are thrilled to celebrate this accomplishment on June 11th at Fenway Park along with other awardees dedicated to preserving the important history and landmarks of our communities.

Congratulations to Phillips Academy and the whole project team!

It was a delight to have special guests Peter Vanderwarker and Matthew Dickey in the studio this week! Hosted by Annum’s Conservation Group, Peter led us through his presentation, “Preservation in Boston”, showcasing his thoughtful photography of the city’s changing landscape throughout the years. Peter is an arts and architectural photographer who has photographed notable projects across the country, including several of Annum’s.

Matthew, also known as “The Streetscape Curator”, offered his unique perspective on preservation through his advocacy work and deep historical knowledge of Boston.

Together, Peter and Matthew engaged our group in an excellent discussion about urbanism and the evolving built environment.

We hope to see them both in the studio (or out on the bike) soon!

Our presence in Washington allows us to deepen relationships and remain engaged with the region’s rich architectural and cultural landscape. Our DC office will operate as an integrated extension of our Boston office, bringing the same collaborative approach, design innovation, and commitment to excellence that defines our practice.

Marist University’s Dyson Center has received a 2026 PCI Design Awards Honorable Mention from the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute!

The PCI Design Awards recognize design excellence and construction quality using precast concrete. This awards program honors innovative and advanced technology and ideas.

The 100,000 square foot building is home to the Schools of Management and Social and Behavioral Sciences, and has become the campus’ unofficial student center! Annum Architects’ renovation and expansion of the original Dyson Center includes program and collaboration spaces, a student-run café, 150-seat presentation room, faculty workspaces, and the Center for Career Services. This project creates a new destination for the entire Marist campus community as a dynamic hub of innovation and learning.

Manufactured by BPDL, the precast concrete was used both as cladding and to support the stone masonry veneer.

This recognition will be celebrated on February 4th during the 2026 PCI Convention, February 2-6, 2026 in Kansas City, MO.
