The last render-to-reality look at the new Southdale Pediatrics Edina location is the allergy clinic, a separate suite on the same floor. It grew from eight exam rooms to eleven and opened up to the building’s natural light, which gives it a calmer, more grown-up character than the pediatric clinic. Watch the render become reality.

The second render-to-reality look at the new Southdale Pediatrics Edina location is the part patients rarely see, the administrative offices. It was built around the work that happens away from patients, with spaces meant to make staff feel valued. There is a break room, a range of spaces to meet and train, and a staff wellness lounge where people can step away from their desks. The space looks onto the building’s central atrium with a sightline across to the pediatric clinic. Watch render become reality.

The new Southdale Pediatrics Edina location comes to life across three spaces, each one from render to reality.

First up is the pediatric clinic, with an undersea identity designed to feel engaging and calming. Acoustical clouds curve overhead in forms that follow the movement of waves, floating at different heights. Color zones and sea creature icons handle wayfinding, helping families find their way. The arches and niches give young patients room to play and a smaller, calmer spot where they can find comfort when a doctor’s visit feels overwhelming. Watch render become reality.

Southdale Pediatrics needed room to grow, and their new Edina clinic gives them the full third floor at 6600 France Avenue, now on a single level.

We planned three distinct environments across the 34,000-square-foot floor: the pediatric clinic, the allergy clinic, and the administrative offices, each built around how it’s used while still reading as one practice. Southdale wanted to keep their undersea identity, so we modernized it to work for every age they see, from the littlest patients to teenagers.

The best clinic security protects staff while keeping the space what it's meant to be: a place to receive care.

That balance is the hard part, and it gets decided early. Long before any lock or camera goes in, the plan sets who can go where, what the person at the front desk can see, and how much warning staff have when something develops. For years this got handled after the design was done. Beth Nordstrom, our Project Executive and Partner in healthcare, writes about what a floor plan is quietly deciding before anyone installs a thing.

We took a break from work yesterday afternoon to play with a few adoptable dogs from Spot’s Last Stop Canine Rescue 🐶. A bunch of us and even a few of our suite neighbors settled in on the floor for some puppy love. 🐶

At the new US headquarters for Trelleborg Group's Medical Solutions division in Plymouth, we designed the company's identity into the architecture, not onto the walls. The laser-cut wood screen at the entry carries the pattern of the company's butterfly, and the baffles overhead trace the angles of the logo.

We leaned into the building's industrial side, exposed ceilings and concrete, warmed with light Scandinavian wood for a Swedish company. The space holds the global brand and still feels like Minnesota.
